speaking of youngsters...I am loving the way they are stepping up at the big league level keeping the Rangers in the playoff hunt and allowing them to not rush any of the vets back from injuries! Don't look now, but the Rangers are in a tie for the 2nd wild card position and only a matter of 3-4 weeks from having a deep line up AND rotation potentially.

Also makes the difference if we are buyers or sellers by trading deadline. Or just stand pat, which I think we do.
we get so many players back over the next month it will be like being buyers without spending any money!

Have we ever had a pitcher start his career off like this? And I don't want to put the cart-in-front-of-the-horse.
But this kid looks/acts like, "whomever wants to send me back to the minors, is messing up."

He very much has that Perez attitude.
I have always looked forward to him coming up, but when I read a a couple of weeks ago that he was working on pitches instead of going with his best pitch that really impressed me. We need more guys who will do that in the minors instead of just worrying about putting up good minor league numbers. He has been very impressive to say the least.

I was thinking about that earlier tonight. I sure hope it is good news. I haven't had a good feeling about his injury.

Agree donaldson. I just do not miss Feliz. Maybe he could help us in middle relief but that is about it.

I know we talked about how awesome Chi Chi's CGSO was last night, but did anyone mention what a big deal it was in that it gave our over worked pen a complete night off. That's huge.

I mentioned that we played extra innings last night and I did not want what happened to Perez happen to Chi Chi. So from that standpoint I understand why they did it. But you are right it was extremely important that Chi Chi pitched late into the game and he definitely did that.

I don't think Perez being over pitched was the reason he got TJ.

because every game in June counts as much as the ones in September
You and Justin are right. All wins are the same. Now or later.

How many wins before the AS game have you seen almost disappear when the dog days show up? Teams fold tent, especially young inexperienced ones, in Aug/Sept.

That was the only point I was trying to make, apparently very unsuccessfully.

Two things: One, the vast majority of those pitches were not under duress. He had very few times when he had to stress out, getting them out. Two, they did mention last night, due to scheduling, he's going to get an extra days rest before his next start.

Wastin......You are right to be concerned for Gonzalez's arm/innings this season though.

I just looked up his background and he threw less than 100 in 2013, and almost 138 in 2014. So far this year he's got 43 in AAA and now 15 with us (total of 58).

The Rangers may not want to expose him to much more that 160 this season, regardless of how well he's doing.

I think 165 innings might be good for him for this season, not sure if they will put a limit on him or not?
