You and Justin are right. All wins are the same. Now or later.
Yes, indeed they are. There were a couple of years lately where we sure could have used just one more April or May win by the time the season was over.

Have we ever had a pitcher start his career off like this? And I don't want to put the cart-in-front-of-the-horse.
But this kid looks/acts like, "whomever wants to send me back to the minors, is messing up."

He very much has that Perez attitude.
Thanks to a mention from Jamey Newberg I looked up what Scott Chiamparino did to start his career with us. He pitched 5 and 7 shutout innings in his first two starts with us in 1990. So he went 12 scoreless innings while giving up 7 hits and 2 walks and he had 7 strikeouts. He had just turned 24 at the time. Like Correa and Guzman he had a very good, but way too short career with us.

5 Sentences: Dont make any assumptions about Rangers second-base situation | | Dallas Morning News

1. The outcome was impressive, but what still stands out in my mind is that before this start Chi Chi Gonzalez got something out of simply watching games between starts; he noted the outings of Colby Lewis and Chris Sale and vowed he’d be more on the attack.

2. And he did it, too.

3. Don’t make any assumptions about when Rougned Odor will be back up because Hanser Alberto’s defense, shown off on a tag play at second and his ability to stay with a double play late in the game, makes him a contributor.

Texas Rangers minor-league report: Telis has four-hit night | | Dallas Morning News

Worth noting from the Texas Rangers’ minor-league system on Friday:

TRIPLE-A ROUND ROCK (34-20) had 13 hits in a 9-5 win at Reno (Arizona.) C Tomas Telis had four hits, including two doubles, and scored two runs. Telis has a seven-game hitting streak during which he is 13-for-29.

DOUBLE-A FRISCO (23-31) had homers from DH Nomar Mazara and 2B Drew Robinson in a 4-1 win at Tulsa (Los Angeles Dodgers.) Robinson, another product of the Las Vegas youth-baseball machine, is tied for the Texas League lead in homers with 10.

HIGH-A HIGH DESERT (28-25) had three homers in a 5-1 win at San Jose (San Francisco.) OF Lewis Brinson reached base twice and scored two runs in his first game since coming off the disabled list. Brinson, the 29th overall choice in the 2012 draft, had been out since April 27 because of a hamstring problem.

Then this from the Newberg minor league report.

Tomas Telis is now hitting .341/.380/.494 in 43 games with Round Rock, 31 of them as a catcher.
Rougned Odor is hitting .349/.438/.687 in 23 games with Round Rock.

Andrew Faulkner pitched his best game in AA so far this year at Tulsa last night, going 7.0 shutout innings with only one walk against a Tulsa team that worked him for two runs and four walks in 6.0 innings last week in Frisco. Nomar Mazara’s starting to hit for power and not just for average, taking Dodgers pitching prospect Jose De Leon for a bomb described by Frisco voice Alex Vispoli as a “no-doubter.”

Ryan Cordell played third base for the third time this year, possibly preparing him to take on the role at least part-time in Frisco. In 52 games at High Desert, Cordell is hitting .297/.359/.472. Lewis Brinson was activated off the DL yesterday, and played in center field his first game back from a hamstring injury. He walked and scored in the first inning, and doubled later in the game.

20-year-old lefty Yohander Mendez has allowed no earned runs in 19.1 innings with Hickory this year. He’s had some injury issues in the past, and this year’s move to the bullpen will potentially allow him to avoid that. If he can prove he’s healthy, he may move quickly through the system. 19-year-old infielder Josh Morgan was last year’s third-round pick, and is hitting .280/.359/.360 with the ‘Dads through 50 games with only 28 strikeouts. Rock Shoulders has one of the best names in the system.

I think 165 innings might be good for him for this season, not sure if they will put a limit on him or not?

Cannot imagine they wouldn't actually.

It wouldn't have to be a "drop dead number" necessarily. He jumped about 35% from 2013 to 14, which would put him on pace for about 185 this year. But with the jump in competition, I'd sure hope he'd stay in the 170ish range myself.

Last thing we need to do is wear him out.

Have y'all noticed how quiet NightCrawler has been this season?

MM doing well = NC not so much. I'll take it.

Gallo finally hits a change up.

Why wouldn't go up there and just sit on off speed breaking pitches for now? He's gonna get that at a 5-1 rate vs fastballs for the immediate future.
