the OLine has been an issue for a couple years specially the Tackles
This needs to be stabilized no matter what before the team can have long term success
No more Stephenson and Watson cheap shortcuts. Elway is getting really terrible advice when it comes to OLine

I said this a few months ago but I'll say it again, Elway is actually doing a really good job when it comes to the O-Line. Last year we had no LT, LG, RG, RT and this year we solved our LT and RG positions. Yes I'm sure everyone would love if we solved our entire O-Line issue in 1 year but that's not how the NFL works. Maybe we go out and get a great tackle or guard in FA or draft a RT in round 1 and 2 but given we've solved 50% of our issues in 1 year I think Elway is doing fine.

Sure it would've been great if we also hit on Stephenson or Watson but they were always signed as stop gaps and not future long term answers. Someone like Ronald Leary is a player you count on for years because he's a top level talent, someone like Donald Stephenson is a player you use until someone better comes along because at the moment there isn't one available(and Watson is better so Elway even improved that position but this year we just go out and find someone better than Watson).

Is he really doing a good job?

It has been a weakness of ours for 3 years now.

Fix it!

I don't want to see Donald Stephenson in a Broncos uniform for another minute of my life.

Leary is good, not what I would call top talent, but he at least made a move there to get better.

He is fixing it, hell you could argue that the O-Line was worse the year we won the SB but because we had Manning he was able to mask a lot of our issues. And I would say every year Elway has improved the RT position, we went from Schofield to Stephenson to Watson. Nobody amazing that is a long term solution but Elway has gotten us better at RT each of the past 2 years. And now that we have a LT, C, & RG we can spend big money on a top RT(or LT if we want and move Bolles to RT) just like we spent big money on Leary this past year.

Sometimes it takes a few years to really put out a great Offensive Line. Look at the Cowboys, they drafted an O-Lineman in the first round in 2011, 2013, & 2014. And now they're arguably the best O-Line in the league. It wasn't until they got Zack Martin in 2014 that they really became great, Smith 2011 and Frederick in 2013 were good but they weren't amazing until a year later when they got Martin.

If we get a killer RT next year either in FA or the draft we may be set with who we have now since really RT is our weak spot, fix that and this team once again gets better just as we did this year.

I've seen @SpringStein walk from Colorado Springs to Iowa City, IA faster then Elway has fixed the OL.

You come full circle back to my original post. If we get a killer RT. My point exactly. He needs to stop with the idea taking lesser castoffs hoping to coach them up and sign a talented RT or draft one and draft a good one. Rieff and Wagner were out there this year and Reiff and Sullivan have solidified the Vikings line.

Maybe we go after Bryan Bulaga this year if the Packers cut him?

I like him and Tyler Eifert but both are injury prone. With Buluga, you run the risk of not solidifying the Oline if he becomes injured .

You run that risk with any FA signing, but yes, Bulaga has had a history of injuries recently. I'd only do it for the right price and obviously need to add depth to OT this year.

But you're acting like Elway just took a chance on a lesser RT and just left the other positions alone. He signed Leary to big money and drafted Bolles so he locked in 2 positions while he didn't with the RT. 2/3 acquisitions have worked out, we do that again this year and we're looking at a full O-Line now. And I don't know many teams who spend big money on 2 O-Lineman at the same time, usually teams do what we did, spend big for 1 talent and hope to get lucky with the other cheaper talent. Looking it up only Detroit paid 2 Lineman at $9.5 million/year, then you have Denver, Cleveland, and Minnesota who paid big for 1 and about $6 million/year for the other.
