yes
Jagr would jump start G
this of course only if we think we can make a run at the 8 seed,

We all remember what happened the last time we made the playoffs on the last day of the season

I agree totally this would bring the gee we saw last year back. i think Voracek's game is to fast for Gee. He needs a player that he can work with pasiing back and forth and a player that will sit down in a spot and get the pass. Voracek is always moving his motor is always going and its harder for gee to hit a moving target.

Nobody thought LA was gonna make the playoffs last year.

they dipped below a 20% chance for a week in december last year.. and about this stage they were a 40% chance to make it

the flyers a re a 6% chance.

i know its all a calculation, but look at how they're playing, look at all the teams they have to leap frog, and how often games are going in to OT this season.. 20% of the devils and sens games have been ot/so losses. 20%. and that's just losses.

in their next five they have the pens, rangers, isles, bruins, and caps. you can pretty much write off beating the rangers and bruins.. the pens are playing great hockey right now.. the islanders and caps have a better record over the past 10 than the flyers.. the most you could hope for through that stretch is probably 5 points... then you need probably 25 points over your last 13 games (with one game against the bruins, devils, and rangers left still)

it's not completely out of hte question, but the flyers are gunna need to get on one hell of a roll and quick.

haha sorry guys. it sucks, but i think its the truth. the flyers are in serious trouble this year. even if jagr does recreate the early last season magic w/ giroux, it probably isn't enough to get them in the playoffs.

that's why i say no to getting jagr back. that 3rd round pick is too important for a team that has precious few impact players in the pipeline

I actually disagree. The fact that he's a winger helps him out. We have a logjam at the center position. Giroux, Briere, Schenn, Cooter, Laughton, Cousins. Some thing's gotta give there.

you know, after thinking about it, i'm actually starting to think the same way as you. read being a winger is a huge asset for us, since we have the logjam at center. i'm starting to think our biggest trade chip should be schenn. he could definitely be a part of a big deal to get a defenseman in here. him and couturier seem to have the most value in a trade and i think i'd keep couts over schenn. i'd be perfectly content with a future top 3 of G-couts-laughton going forward. not to mention talbot can play center and read has also shown that he can play center if need be

also, as for Jagr, i'm 100 percent on board with bringing him back for the right price. I think people underestimate the influence he had on G and the rest of the kids. these forwards were essentially the same last year, minus jagr and JVR, and last year our offense was dynamite. jagr might have tired legs, but i think his influence on the kids is far superior to anything he does statistically.

losing jvr and jagr is a big difference though.. that's 2 top 6 forwards.

dont get me wrong, i loved jagr last year, and if the flyers were on a playoff push / cup contender level, i'd be all for bringing him back. but given their current position and bleak outlook this season, it's just not worth it to give up an asset so the stats/standings look a little better in the summer

I agree with the most of you guys. If I thought the Flyers had a realistic shot at the playoffs I would be for getting Jagr. I just don't see it happening and honestly at this point I don't want to just squeak into the 8th seed only to get obliterated in the first round again. Minus well ride it out and be shitty and get a good draft pick. It sucks.

If we sneak into the 8th spot we very well may play the Pens and we all know we could beat their asses.

Maybe...but even if we did we wouldn't go too far.

i would take the flyers over the pens in a 7 game series with no hesitation. last game's choke job aside, the flyers are in their heads.

Even if we didnt come close to winning it all this year it would satisfy me to kick the Pens ass again!!!

haha me too.. i'd rather beat the pens in the first round and get swept in the second then go to the cup and lose without beating them.
