there is no way we trade for a goalie this year, the offseason would be the time to do that. expecially one that makes as much as bryz, thats 11 mil on the books for goalies.

If we trade for a goalie Bryz will be amnesteed immediately and we wouldnt wait for the summer.

i like miller a lot, but the way he's been playing the past couple years makes me think he's not a real big upgrade over bryz so IMO there's no point if it takes a lot.. ie, couts+bryz > miller and no couts.. however, the goalie position is the only position that has really been watered down lately.. FAs outside of the ones the flyers sign aren't making bank, and vancouver, LA, boston (til thomas' departure) have all been looking to move goalies for the past few years, but haven't found the return to be up to snuff.. goalie is the position to find bargains on

only reason to dump bryz though, is if you can either save a bunch of money and hope to get 'lucky' w/ someone like emery, or if you can improve greatly by trading

Absolutely agree. I thought Las was referring to the offseason. Buyout Bryzy and Briere ( if necessary). This is a tough time to trade goaltenders, not much demand at this time ( go figure).

Personally, I would like to package a deal in the offseason that would include Bobby Ryan and Hiller and give up ?? I'd be afraid a lot:(

Minimum Cooter Laughton and our number one plus a lot more.

i dont think it would take that much.. cooter for ryan straight up would probably be agreeable, and goalies just aren't that valuable right now.. there's enough good goalies, or expected to be good goalies, for every team to have at least one, so i dont think getting hiller will cost laughton+1st+

that being said, if the ducks dont resign perry, there's no way they get rid of ryan

ya hed be my target if they dont go the trade route and buy out bryz. he's UFA this summer, he'll get a modest raise because he's had a good season, but goalies just dont have a huge demand, i'd say he could be had for 3-3.5

Hello folks... venturing into 'enemy' territory I know... in my best Mars Attack voice... I come in Peace.

I was thinking about Talbot and the flyers troubles this season (which is unfortunate, for real, good playoff team), and got me thinking if the flyers will be 'sellers' at the deadline. Then glancing over at hockeybuzz, ek had a rumor about tlabot going back to the pens... first thing, first... would you expect a deal between flyers and pens? Secondly, what would you want in return for Talbot... Vitale and late rd pick? Vitale would look good in Orange, saves about 700K and also get a pick... Or no, Talbot's contract too good, just having off season production wise?

I wouldn't do it just because I wouldn't want to help the Pens.

Honestly, I don't know why his name is being rumored. The Pens were the ones that thought Philly way overpaid for him. Not sure what they've seen at this point that would make them think differently.

I hear you, about helping eachother out...

I don't think, well, at least me personally, the Flyers overpaid for him per year. The lenght was long, when it was signed, but it was only like a 700K raise per year... that's a good contract right now... IMO.... if he chips in 10 and 10 and PKs... like he should... that's great value. Good team and locker room guy.

I agree with you. That's a reason why I'd like to keep him. Every team needs a guy like him. With us having a young team right now I want to hold on to him. Of course, that could change if a team offered you a good deal. I know others around here are not as high on him though.

i would never make a deal that would benefit pitt in any way, even if it helped us. talbot is playing a little under what they expected him to be last year. BUT who isn't this year. at his tag, he is fine, perfect 4th line guy and penalty killer. pitt can have fedotenko...

If we could get Bobby ryan for Cooter straight up why dont we do that right now. we would get a proven star for a player that may or may not be a star.

because that would be considered a 'selling' move for anaheim.. they need production right now, it would be foolish for them to do that move now while they're tearing up the western conference.. in the summer though maybe

and i think from a flyers perspective they'd be concerned about trading a potential super star for just a star

so the latest eklund talks about talbot being shipped back to pitt. flyers pulling a megadeal for miller AND vanek. also the 5th rounder florida gave up for tj brennan, and eklund remarks that tj brennan would automatically be a top 4 guy in philly. who exactly is tj brennan better than to make the top 4 in philly haha.

the vanek trade intrigues me and yes i would trade couterier straight up for him, but that aint happening.

we need to do something to shake things up but Ecklund from what i gather on this board is unreliable.
