what las said.. there should be an out clause for career-ending injuries i think

I'm kind of torn. On the one hand, yes it sucks to have your cap ruined like that, but on the other hand, it's a risk you take when you sign somebody that old long term like that. What if instead of taking a stick to the eye two years ago he'd instead just worn down over those two years and wasn't really able to contribute on-ice anymore? The Flyers just get out of it because "he can't play anymore?"

Honestly the best system would be your salary = your cap hit. Fixes a TON of the shanahanigans.

Somewhere I read that scouts from SJ, Blackhawks, Caps, etc were at the WFA the other night? I heard that the Flyers may be interested in Murray from SJ. Give them Briere.

To be honest I don't stay up to watch those teams out west. Don't know a lot about Murray. Awaz would be the better person to ask. He has to be an upgrade for what we currently have, no?

i dunno, he only plays 17 minutes per game, he is 6'3" 245lbs, which isnt exactly telling me he is a fast player. only has 2 assists on the year, no goals, and is a -9 for the year.

i like murray a lot, but he's basically a carbon copy of grossmann except he's a little more physical.. so the flyers really don't need him

if they're looking at dealing w/ SJ my guess would be they're looking at boyle, who is pretty overpaid and from what i saw, hangs on to the puck too much to be a really effective puck mover (plus he's old)

I'm a firm believer that a change of scenery can benefit a player. So far it's worked for JVR and Bob. Luke Schenn is much better now with us than he was in Toronto. Just my opinion. I like Murray's size.

he is a horse, after spending some time on hockeyfights.com checking out his work. he can hang with the big boys and is a physical presence on the back end. though i would think briere for him would be a pretty lopsided trade, they'd have to throw a pick our way.

a couple years ago i would've been all for getting murray, he's an animal.. but for the first time in ages the flyers actually have enough size and grit on the backend IMO.. need one of those small, fast, offensive type dudes

I think it's obvious that Bryz will be amnesteed over the summer why arent we looking at trading for a goalie?

Ryan Miller is available? I'm very sure he'd move his NTC to get out of Buffalo. Not a pleasant place to be these days.

His cap is probably slightly higher than Bryzy, but not 100% sure on that. His contract expires in 2014. To get Miller, I'm guessing that the Sabres would start at Coots. Again not sure. Miller's numbers are not great, but a lot of that has to do with the garbage hr has in front of him. He can steal games still. Here is a guy that would be great for a team making a run. I'd do it in a second.

I was thinking more along the lines of McGinn or Wellwood and Harry Z i dont know if i would trade Coots for him I would however trade Coots for bernier or Quick since they both cant play.

Quick yes but for Bernier no way. Miller possibly. Miller has a lot of game left in him.

I really like Miller but i wouldnt want to trade a possible future all star for him not that Coots is showing any kind of all star play this year

there is no way we trade for a goalie this year, the offseason would be the time to do that. expecially one that makes as much as bryz, thats 11 mil on the books for goalies.
