Will Briere waive his NTC?

No one knows for sure. We know that he prefers to stay here, but I think if push came to shove that he'd waive it depending on where he'd be sent.

Will Briere waive his NTC?

i think he will. based on the flyers cap situation he's gotta know there's a decent chance he gets bought out if he stays with the flyers

question is, does he think a buyout and UFA can get him more stability than his current contract? (UFA summer of '16).. keeping in mind he's 35, i dont see anyone offering him more stability than what he currently hes

Exactly. He had quite the career year last year, and it's over. Talbot is what he is.

Im not saying he's the problem because there are no expectations on him because he has no game to speak of. He doesnt really do anything that well so he's pretty much useless at this point anything we currentkly use him for another player on our team or in our system can take over that roll so if we could add him in with another player to get someone really good send him packing.

lol, we all hoped.. we all hoped

he's a good PK-er though.. 1.75 for someone who is defensively responsible is fine

he should be on the 4th line though, no question

I doubt Briere would waive his NTC to go to the Isles.

Apparently St. Louis & Boston are interested though.

haha he wouldnt have to move to go to the islanders, its only about an hour and a half or so.

isn't there a new thing in the CBA where you can split up the salary of players when you trade. similar to baseball in, thinking the texas rangers and arod situation with the yankees.

in that case, if we were to pay JBow say, 3.2 million, i wouldn't think that would be that bad of a deal, then you would have to give up more rather than taking his 6.4 mil/year.

I'll have to find the article again but I think it's really limited in how they can split it.

They say it was a hip flexor. Shouldn't be out too long. I'm just glad it wasn't his knee.

How the NHL?s new salary trading system works - The Globe and Mail

From the article:

There are four golden rules that apply to retaining salary:

1. Teams can only have three contracts on the books where they’ve retained salary in a trade

2. Teams can keep only up to 15 per cent of the salary cap in a given year, meaning they would max out at $9.645-million under the $64.3-million cap that’s likely to be in place in 2013-14 and 2014-15

3. Only 50 per cent of a contract can be kept

4. A contract can only be traded in one of these deals twice
