Thankfully the Penguins didn’t retain any of the Carlo salary in that 3-way deal. Really didn’t cause much issues for them. Also gives them roster filler for the rest of the Tank, ahh I mean season.

I see why they would ask that price, I bet without the guarantee of an extension or the fact which Boeser would show up meant that asking price was too high?

With the prices being paid, it would not have been a stretch to get a first for him. The problem was number of teams willing to enter that particular arms race.

Just have to hope they can sign him because losing him for nothing would be a huge miss.

Only has two playoff performances to his name and one was a dumb Covid bubble but if I were a contender and needed a RW I would’ve given a first rounder for him no problem.

The problem is none of the eastern contenders really needed an RW that bad, especially after many of the moves had already been made.

Out west Minnesota maybe could’ve but they might think it’s worth going truly all in next season rather than this one with all the cap space they have coming (and the possibility they can get him home for free). They’re already down this year’s first so that’s another factor.

Edmonton could’ve used him but they needed the help on defence more and cap space is already next to nothing so I can understand them not doing it.

The one team I really think missed the ball on this one is Winnipeg. They have no secondary scoring besides Ehlers who’s always the odd man out of the top line. They have assets falling out of their ass. This is the most all in season they’ve ever had. If they couldn’t find a C getting Boeser was the next best thing to at least give them some scoring punch down both wings.

Chevy continues to be too shy to get it done.

^ and ^^. Most likely why Rakell didn’t move. The value in return just wasn’t there.

Lest we forget in the Boeser situation that Frankie really likes that playoff revenue money, I'm not saying he waded into this and nixed a Boeser trade, but I think it's a distinct possibility.

Not to mention plenty of space to not only grab someone now and have a solid likelihood of keeping them.

The smart money is on Ehlers leaving. Then what? Boeser would have been a solid grab for them.

I'd take either of those guys on the Flames - Preferably Ehlers, though.

I would love Ehlers too, but I would bet my last dollar on him going to Montreal to reunite with his buddy Laine.

My wish list, in order, for the offseason:
Bennett
Ekblad
Provorov
Boeser
Ehlers
Gavrikov

literally anyone else

Tavares
Marner
