Very happy about this pick up. I called around 7-8 mill a year and we got him at 8 mill. Very good move by the 49ers

GM's should be much more right on FA's, they have NFL film to review, and NFL Coaches to call. So we should get $8M worth of WR production, not just a deep threat.

We shall see if it is a 'very good move by the 49ers"?

I think the contracts getting thrown at players this isn't a bad deal. He is young, Fast and has good hands. thats what we needed. I will take it.

Agree good pickup knows how to how to get explosive plays! A healthy Vernon and DGB will do wonders for the offense!! Go 49ers!!

Yes give me DGB, Parker or Strong and I'm happy. We might cut Patton then but that is ok. Also I think ellington will be a nice fit this year.

Ravens are having a bad offseason because of Flacco BIG contract. They will struggle this year.

ok, Torrey Smith's contract isn't bad for year 1. It'll be like a prove it year for him, Kaep, and the offense. If he doesn't show more consistency (too many drops), he can be cut next season.

Torrey's contract is very cap friendly for this year. I hope this helps us to go get a RB, CB and another DE in free agency. Greg Hardy who has been introuble I think might be worth the risk.

Torrey's contact breakdown by year
2015 3.6 million
2016 7.6 million
2017 9.6 million
2018 9.6 million
2019 9.6 million

Complete breakdown of Torrey Smith's contract with 49ers | CSN Bay Area

from another article.....

But Smith comes with pros and cons.

While he’s a bonafide big-play receiver with speed to stretch defenses – and should be able give quarterback Colin Kaepernick a chance to connect on more deep routes than ever before – some believe Smith isn’t a top receiver because of inconsistency. He’s averaged only 53 catches and 898 yards per season. One general manager, who chose to remain anonymous, last season called Smith
a “one-trick pony” because he’s not a complete receiver; he’s a deep threat but not a consistent target on all types of routes, including short ones.

Plus, he’s had trouble with drops. This past season he had 11 drops, the second-most in the NFL – and not a good number in comparison with 49 catches.

Plus, his catch rate is low. Over his career, he’s been targeted 434 times and has 213 catches – a
49.1 success rate. But part of that can be attributed to the routes he’s running, too. Almost 33 percent of throws to him have been “deep targets” of more than 20 yards.

And the other side of that argument is that Smith has 42 deep-target catches and 15 deep-target TD plays over four seasons.

if they do in fact release Stevie, a WR at 15th comes back into play. This would be good obviously, cause we need an overall WR. For next season and beyond, we'll likely cut ties with Boldin, and maybe T. Smith.

clearly he has all the measurables you'd want, but wary of drafting him at 15th. the marijuana stuff isn't THAT bad, but the assault one is. Won't do us good if he's suspended?

Secondary reason.........he doesn't have a lot of college experience and on top of that, missed last season. So odds are high he'll need all three years of experience we typically see.

My ideal draft would be selecting Trae Waynes or Jalen Collins with the #15 pick. If DGB is still on the board in the late 1st or early 2nd I feel we should trade our 2nd, 4th to move up and draft DGB.

Stevie now officially released. Now go get a CB or DE 49ers.

won't go nuts if we trade up in the 2nd, but only want a 'little' trade up. For me, a 4th is more than a "little bit"?

Yeah it all matters how many picks we jump. Lets just say we trade with the Pats who are known for having a shit load of picks like us. So we get their #32 pick and they get our #46 and #123 pick. That pick at #123 is from the Broncos and its the 27th pick in the 4th. So its not like its a middle pick plus we are getting a 4th round comp. pick.

I would love Waynes with the 15th pick, especially if Cox and Culliver do not resign. I don't know if Brock will be ready or if his injury continues to linger.

I like the signing. Niners needed speed on offense. I hope he polishes his route running and not have so many drops. He had 11 drops last season.

Torrey's contract is very cap friendly for this year. I hope this helps us to go get a RB, CB and another DE in free agency. Greg Hardy who has been introuble I think might be worth the risk.

Torrey's contact breakdown by year
2015 3.6 million
2016 7.6 million
2017 9.6 million
2018 9.6 million
2019 9.6 million
Nice to see the breakdown. I would of made it more even. Those last 3 years are tough unless at that time he is a Top
