I said Santana was a stopgap. Maybe you don't know what that means? He has made a difference in several games though defensively. Was I high? No one disputed Julio, Gilbert and Kirby weren’t carrying their weight. Problem was no one else was. Jerry did nothing to make them better from them being in the gutter to where they are at, hence why I posed the question if Scott did something to rally the team and it sparked something. That is on you if you think the Santana deal was anything more than just a warm body to cover for the France injury.
And of course your last sentence is correct. That is exactly the definition of a having good trade deadline.
The Mariners have the pitching and the defense, but they don't have the hitting. Maybe they will by October, but right now they just don't.They can get you into the playoffs. Just not convinced either can go deep in the playoffs.
I wasn't speaking of just this year. I don't think either are quality enough leaders to ever see this team win the WS.The Mariners have the pitching and the defense, but they don't have the hitting. Maybe they will by October, but right now they just don't.
Don't we all feel that way most games and just take it as a good surprise when they win?I hope I am wrong ... but I got a bad feeling about tonites game.
Ray is due to lay an egg after half a dozen or so quality starts.
Our bats may take a night off also.
I would love to be wrong here
