That'll happen when you don't play your first MLB game until age 28. Regardless, to have a 60+ WAR from ages 28-37 is quite remarkable on Robinson's part.

I was going to say, if time spent at other positions is such a big deal in evaluating Cabrera and Mauer then it has to be for Robinson too, right?

You can give him a theoretical boost for the time missed at the start of his career in a bar room discussion since it wasn't his fault and wasn't a reflection of his ability, but it's seemed pretty clear to me from the discussion that type of thing doesn't fly in these rankings.

Might be so short... But in his 10 seasons, he had 10 of the greatest seasons of any 2B...

Cal is strict in is meaning of these,but he has been consistent throughout.

Each case needs to be looked at individually, and Robinson was SOOOO studly in his short (2B) career that it will carry him further. Much like Koufax.

It is also hard to discount his "intangibles". A more extreme case of the Tony Gwynn argument from a couple weeks ago.
