Top 3 Cy Young Canidates this year as of now

Not a candidate, but cool to point out: The other Felix (Doubront) has a 2.55 ERA over his last 15 games in which he has given up 3 twice, 2 seven times, 1 thrice, and 0 twice.

Subtract his two clunkers of 6ER, he's got a 2.89 ERA on the year.

His development is a big reason Boston has gone from last to first.

But a couple of dark horses that I think are just outside the top 3 right now are Kuradu(sp) and Locke.

Kuroda is really coming on and could get into the picture.

Only problem for him is he doesn't have anything to fall back on. Win/Loss, ERA, K's. He's very solid in all categories but the others are doing them all a little better.

To be honest Scherzer is a bit overrated and his only other impressive stat (comparatively) is his WHIP.

Really? Scherzer is #1 in the AL in WHIP, #2 in the AL in strikeouts, #1 in wins, #6 in Innings Pitched and the 5 guys in front of him all have 1 extra start (if Max goes 5 innings in his next start, he will be #2 in the AL)

How do you consider that overrated?!?! To put it in perspective -- how good Scherzer has been this year. He would have to give up 37 hits in his next start for his WHIP to get to what Felix Hernandez's WHIP currently is at.

Funny thing about. The Only difference between Darvish and Kuroda this year? Is one is Young, Strikeout artist...excuse me... THE strikeout artist. The Other is an old, work the Strike-zone effectively to weak Contact pitcher..

Yet, they have been pretty close to each other in effectiveness..

Personally as a Tiger fan, truth be known, I don't really care if 'Mad Max' wins it or not, but tell ya' what.. gimme 22/23 wins from him, a 3-ish ERA, and another shutdown job in the playoffs, and it's all good, fair 'nuff?? Kool!!

By the way wins is the worst stat. Say if darvish had that one more start went 7 innings he wouldn't be that far off in innings pitched. But darvish does have the more Ks, better opp average, better ERA than Scherzer right now in my mind those are etter stats to judge than wins. But people can make a case that yu is better than max or max is better than yu. But it's really close IMo

Scherzer, King Felix and Masterson in the AL. Colon and Holland hanging around the conversation though. Kershaw, Wainwright and Harvey in the NL. Cliff Lee and Corbin could get in the mix again if Harvey gets forced to put the kid gloves on, which is probably a great idea.
