This is shaping up to be a close one. How can there be no discussion?

Gehrig 900 less plate appearances and had more HR, more rbis, better OBP, better slugging percentage, championships, all star appearances, 2 mvps and still batted .340.

Cobb’s lack of all star appearances is likely due to the story written after his death about how everyone hated him. Without that narrative, he would heave been an all star every year of his career.

Or the fact that he retired 5 years before they played the 1st all star game...

I'll be honest. Today I consider the Iron Horse to be kind of unlucky
That's not what he said himself though

It's a question of American aspiration to be sincere, honest while playing with integrity and sportsmanship versus, a no-good human, POS for a teammate, an arrogant self-indulged self-praising bastard who threatened the purity of baseball with just his vomit personality and image. Gehrig is a role model, Cobb is a dissapointment

You put Gehrig over Bonds too?

Steroids era. Did he or didn't he, the weight and growth were unnatural so I sided with he was more likely, that's not honest or to any degree playing with integrity.
Is that a yes?

Ya it is, that's what I think, others may not and even authorities don't agree on everything. Their careers are so close in overall performances it's hard to take one exceptional better than the other so any difference could be slight. I prefer Gehrig.
This poll is not an exact science either it's opinion.Numbers can be fashioned in any argument to uphold a claim it's what the person findsimportant as a stat. Era's can't be measured as an exact science either. I like Gehrig over Bonds that's all

Fine by me, that's the fun of this stuff. I prefer Bonds (the numbers aren't that close though, Bonds has almost 50 more WAR for starters). But Gehrig is a worthy all time great and if people want to downgrade Cobb and Bonds and Clemens for being assholes and cheaters they are free to do so.

Tough choice between 2 all-time legends who none of us ever saw play, but also had movies made about them.

Oooh interesting...other than Ruth have any others had movies made about them? Jackie Robinson obviously but he won't make the top 20 by a long shot. Oh yeah Mantle and Maris had a movie. Can't remember any others.

Shoeless Joe was basically featured in 2 movies! But they weren’t necessarily about him.
