Tough to leave out Davis but you can't be a top 10 player as of today and have your team be as bad as they were last year.

Also, don't be prisoner of the moment putting Irving Top 10. He had a great Finals, but he's still essentially the same player he's been since he's been in the league. The only difference between now and back then is he's playing with Lebron. Irving is more top 15 to top 20

Kyrie's still 24 and that finals performance helped him bloom into another level. I think he's only continuing to get better, especially with Lebron as his teammate. I can't say he is the same player as he's been before this finals because of that "experience".

Oh yeah I agree. He could be top 3 to 5 PG next season

Any list that doesn't have Lebron, Steph, and Durant as their top 3 in some order is absurd.

Lebron
Steph
Durant
Westbrook
Leonard
Paul George
Chris Paul
James Harden
Lowry
Lilard

I disagree.

I love Steph, but value 2 way players more, as everyone should. He is a tremendous player, but also somewhat of a product of the system. Put him on another team that does not fit his game as well, and he is not an MVP candidate. Best offensive player maybe, but not MVP.

I wrestled with Westbrook vs. Steph. I would take Curry on my team 10 times out of 10, but as for who is the greater player, I think the answer is Russ. He is more dynamic.

I think the top 5 has to be:

LeBron
Durant
Leonard
Curry
Westbrook

In some order, but how you arrange them after LeBron is very subjective and a matter of opinion. I could make a hell of a case for Leonard at 2.

Not sure. It came on the big stage, but it is also a small sample size. Could he get to the top 10? Sure. But he isn't there righ now. There are a few players not appearing on anybody's list who deserve to be ranked higher than Kyrie, IMO.

It's hard to argue that a guy who has won back to back MVPs and is the first unanimous MVP selection, is anything short of one the top 2 or 3 players in the league.

Westbrook is a great player. But his shot prevents him from being in that top 3 discussion.

How about a larger sample size, not only did Irving kick the shit out of curry in the finals matchup he also was better the entire playoffs...

Irving 25.2 ppg .475 fg% .440 3 pt% To 2.3 Stl 1.7 Blk .6

Curry 25.1 ppg .438 fg% .404 3 pt% To 4.2 Stl 1.4 Blk .3

Not to mention curry didn't even make the playoffs when he was Irvings age

Irving had a phenomenal Finals, but I'm not putting him in the top 3 conversation given that he's not a great defender. My list:

1) Lebron James
2) Kevin Durant
3) Stephen Curry
4) Russell Westbrook
5) Kawhi Leonard
5b) Paul George (they're about even in terms of overall effectiveness, with Kawhi being the clearly better defender and George being a great offensive player).
7) CP3
8) Anthony Davis
9) Melo
10) Damion Lillard

I've never viewed Paul George as a consensus top 10 player let alone close to the top 5 where some of you are putting him but oh well.
