One of my Raven fan family members (wife's family) just facebook laughed at Green Bay for the overpayment.

True, but how do you know another team or two weren't also interested in EJ, and the Bills had to pull the trigger at 16?

In the past month or so, EJ's stock shot up dramatically, and rumors started flying around about how teams were showing some interest in him over QB's like Smith, Barkley, and Nassib.

Besides, the biggest need the Bills had to fill coming into this draft was getting a QB, and the Bills managed to get the guy they wanted while acquiring 2 extra picks in the process.

"Experts" were saying the Bills should take Smith, Barkley, or Nassib with the 8th pick, and look where those guys ended up.

Sometimes to win big, you have to take big risks.

He would have probably been available in the 2nd round. There wasn't a team after pick #16 that needed a QB. Sure some team might have traded up, but I doubt it. The teams who traded up in the 1st round already had QB's. They wanted players at other positions.

There wasn't a single QB in this draft class worth a 1st round pick. None of them were as good as the three guys who went in the top 10 last year. Geno Smith went to a team that has 1 WR worth a damn on their entire roster. Is Matt Barkley better than Nick Foles? I'm really not sure. Next years QB crop will be better.
