It's hard to believe that Florida is just as banged up as us.

Stars:

1. Bryzgalov. He didn't make too many amazing saves, but mostly because he was in position early and controlled most of his rebounds well. Great job earning the SO, Bryz.

2. Briere. He still hasn't scored, but he hit the crossbar and got two assists while generating serious offensive pressure. He even threw out a hit or two.

3. Gustafsson. Another rarity in this half of the stars/goats, Gusty saved a goal and had some nice shot blocks, as well as a good chance in the offensive end. If he wants to keep playing like this, we'll be alright.


Goats:

1. Starting off. The Panthers carried the play for the first five or so minutes. We kept them from scoring, but too much zone time for them.

2. The refs. It's not boarding when you hit a guy in the side, and it's not unsportsmanlike when you snow shower a goalie when the alternative is plowing him.

3. Domino's pizza. I said no mushrooms, assholes.

Pretty decent, actually. He wasn't a star but certainly looked like he could play in the NHL. A few good pinches, no major breakdowns. The kind of defense you don't notice for the right reasons.

That said, he didn't get much time, and Florida is injured and not the best test even when healthy.

Wellwood is alot faster than I realized. Quietly 3-2-5 in 8 games and a +7. I did not realize he was a +7. Harry Z on the other hand was 3-2-5 in 36 games and a -12. Bye Bye Harry. I like him but how do you not play Wellwood?

Only reason I can think of to play Z over Wellwood is physicality. Wellwood can fly and has shown a knack for being in the right place at the right time, but he cannot control the puck along the boards AT ALL. That doesn't make him worse than Z by any stretch, but it does affect what kind of line you want to play him on.
