Who are the front runners in acquiring him? Am I the only person who thinks he's very overrated?

Overrated by who?
By Burke? Very overrated.
By most everyone else? I don't really think so.
I think he's a good player. Was a 50 point scorer on a shitty Toronto team with only a $4.25 million cap hit.
Toronto was supposed to be very good defensively last season. They signed Komisarek & Beauchemin. Traded for Dion. They already had Kaberle & Schenn. Kaberle is supposed to be a defenseman. He plays offense FIRST.
There is a rumor that Simmonds from the Kings may be the trade bait. I don't think I like that for one year of Kaberle. Simmonds is one of my favorite players.
So did Paul Coffey...? Your point?
I have no idea why people hate offensive defensemen so much. A team needs a good mix. Not every player is going to be great on offense and defense like Nicklas Lidstrom.
Kaberle is what he is. A good offensive defenseman. That's what people know him for. I don't see many people overrating him as a great defensive defenseman or anything.
I'd certainly take a balanced blueline with a guy like Kaberle on my team over 6 "defensive-first" guys that can't score.
The point is the Leafs couldn't stop anybody from scoring. I realize Kaberle is an offensive defenseman but I don't think he's responsible enough in his own zone.
Comparing Kaberle to Coffey is a joke. That's something Burke would do.
Wasn't comparing their skill levels. You said Kaberle puts offense first. So did Coffey. No joke about it.
Toronto couldn't stop people from scoring because their goaltending sucked and their forwards weren't much better. Hard to be a good defensive club when your forwards can't keep the puck. Having the worst PK in the league didn't help either.
None of this really matters anyway, cause as stated, Kaberle is an offensive defenseman. The "point" of the Leafs not being able to stop anyone isn't really a knock on Kaberle. If you wanna call the rest of their shutdown defenseman overrated, go right ahead.
Kaberle puts up good numbers for a defenseman with little offensive firepower around him. He's not a liability in his own zone, so he's well worth his cap hit.
