The NFL is partly to blame for not having the officials handle the game balls but Brady thought he could break the rule. It is not a minor incident in my opinion and Brady should be glad he was only suspended for 4 games.

The refs didn't handle the game balls so I wouldn't blame them. The NFL policy of having each team take care of the balls is flawed and should be discontinued as it encourages cheating.

They should. It is much more important "for the integrity of the game" that the refs do their job and secure a level playing field, even if that means a last minute check of the balls.
