I still wonder if the Rangers might be interested in Detroit's Bryan Holaday at catcher. Giminez is doing himself no favors this spring.

Speaking of catching, if Rua continues to impress during the regular season I wonder if the Rangers would entertain the idea of trading Moreland at the break to someone needing someone at 1B. Maybe we can pick up our future catcher in that deal. It would probably take a lot of success from Rua for them to even consider that though.

He is, but they always seem ready to replace Giminez it seems and Chris is having a terrible spring both at bat and throwing runners out. If they want Chirinos to be the backup then Holaday certainly wouldn't be the right acquisition, but if they want someone to be the backup then maybe Holaday is sufficient and probably wouldn't cost much. FWIW Holaday does have 4 HRs this spring. That is one more than his total in 259 big league at bats.

Looks to be mostly meh defensively as well

26% caught stealing %, league average is about 27%

Looked at other numbers but too lazy to post them, but posted the CS% b/c that seems to be the main complaint about Gimenez thus far

The ST HR's would suggest an anomaly obviously, I think there is a reason he hasn't really cracked the Tigers lineup the last couple years. I would like an upgrade at catcher but not necessarily at the expense of losing other more valuable pieces. I think we will piecemeal it together for the next couple years anyway with the budget restraints. That is unless the reigns come off with an opportunity to spend for title contention

Just guessing, but I think he meant price in terms of prospects that would be required to trade for a catcher.

Whomever you trade for, will be added at a certain cost? What is that cost, aside from prospects and does that align with the spending restraints, or are those off the table now? Price is relative to the context of the question I guess

Most of us do what we can to provide updates, however there are tons of variables in ST. Lots of speculation, much like the offseason/hot stove rumors etc. Always fun to talk baseball, in any regards

Are you looking for a pitcher to replace Colby with? Or do you want they might trade Profar for a pitcher who will not have a rotation spot in early May when Yu is back? I don't see a need for a starting pitcher that we have to trade anything near worthwhile for.

No Profar for a catcher. Would not trade Profar for a # 5 pitching spot. Like most are saying we are suspect in catching depth. I would really like to keep Profar anyways. But that may not be the overall plan
