Gotta like that depth at SP... really across the board. Only thing I am not certain about the BP. And that just has more to do with me just not really knowing who our guys are this season. How do you guys think we are looking there?

BP is probably going to be one of our biggest positions of strength. We will have the same guys as last year for the most part in Dyson, Diekman, Tolleson, Kela, Freeman, Claudio, Faulkner and we added Wilhelmsen and Barnett this offseason. Not all will break camp w the big league squad. Im guessing Claudio and Faulkner will be down at RR.

Once Darvish is ready we're really going to need a long man for the pen. So whomever is in the 5 spot may have a good opportunity to move to the pen.

Of course some of that will be determined on how the pen is structured from the get go I guess.

Could be NMart or Ranaudo I guess, if Chi Chi was in the 5th spot to start the year? Maybe they go down and Klein gets the long man spot. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out, but we are deep throughout IMO

I think you've got the plan. But I would be surprised to see Klein start the season as a long man. Then again, someone's gotta fill the spot.

Daniels was with Buzz/Grieve the other day for a couple of innings and he mentioned Wilhemsen as being able to go multi innings, but only on the short run. Wouldn't be his long term role. Seems like he mentioned Barnette as another possibility too.

But like several of ya have mentioned, we've got options for a nice change.

I stand corrected on the pen, didn't realize we retained most of.our guys from late last season. Looks like a ton of depth there too. I was really happy about yhe addition on Wilhelmson. I don't guess I know much about Barnet though. Been slacking on my baseball.

First, get your ass back to work. ha

But seriously, this pen is butt-kicker-heavy, and Wilhelmsen is a terrific addition.

Barnette came over from Japan, after having some success there. Guess the jury is somewhat out on him for now anyway though.

We've secretly replaced Oakland's lineup with people who have never played baseball. Let's see if anyone notices.

Seriously, not only crappy errors... some appear to have forgotten the rules

As the great Casey Stengal once screamed at the Mets......"does anyone out here know how to play this game?!"

Don't forget A J Griffin as a possible 5th starter. Some like to add Guthrie as a possibility as well.

Options my man....Options.

Could we start a Griffin or a Guthrie, and have NMart as the long man? Gonzalez goes to RR?

This is to me, is really fun/exciting stuff to think we "legitimately" have all-kinds of scenarios as to 5th starter/ long man/long men?

Let's note........It's early ST and I love it.

But at the same time, the A's are infamous for "making chicken-salad outta chickenshit" when it gets down to "it's Aug/Sept girls; remember us?"

Hate the fuckers, truly do. But some of that comes from how awful they've made me feel over the years!

The A's being terrible is never a bad thing for the Rangers. That team always gives us trouble :gaah:

I would much rather have the young starters stay starters until we prove they can't be starters. Remember, Winding says we need 10 starters.
