i give Dobson the benefit of doubt since this was his first game in the NFL and he had a short practice week between sunday and thursday... thompkins on the other hand may be a bust!!!

Dobson was a second round draft choice and Thompkins an undrafted FA, so it seems reasonable to have higher expectations for Dobson. Either way, it's obvious to me that it's way too soon to speculate that either is a bust (can an undrafted FA even be a bust?). Rather, I think that Mayock was likely right when he said that he expects both of those guys to be much better in several weeks.

If TB plays as poorly next week as it did against NJY last week, then NE figures to go to 3-0. Games at Atlanta and Cincinnati the following two weeks ought to be more telling about where NE stands early in the season.

Yeah I would say the AFC East looked 10X better than the AFC North opening week. Miami crushed the Browns and the AFC East went 3-1 with the one loss being because it was a division game and somebody had to lose. Now one week does not make a season obviously but the way the AFC North teams lost on opening weekend shows they might be a division on a major decline.

I would say the AFC in general just looks bad this year. There are a couple of good looking teams on paper but overall every division looks to have some major bottom feeders.

People said that last year and the ravens, who were about on par with 2-3 other teams, handled the 49ers team that was head and shoulders above the best of the NFC.

Who in the NFC is scary behind SF? GB, Atl are solid, but decidedly better than the AFC? I don't see it.
