Where were ye at during that event, RA?

In my basement under the pool table with my mom, brother, and 2 sisters.
We lived in Ralston. The house got taken off at the foundation and the Gretna Fire Dept got us out after about 20 minutes. Due to emergency radios, they were already rolling towards Omaha as the tornado was still tearing through.

That Hallam tornado was bigger than the Omaha tornado.

They were both F4 magnitude but Hallam's was 2.5 miles wide where Omaha's was about 1.5 miles wide.

Here's the path. Hallam got the worst of it (it's widest point).

We used to do a lot of pheasant hunting in Crete back in the 70's..

This is a better look at it. Was right where it started as you can see on the map. It was already massive, but it wedges out and basically quadruples in size right in front of their eyes.

Holy shit!

It's no wonder you ended up taking such an interest in storms......

Glad you all made it out of that storm okay. That is a life changing deal no doubt.

Myself........I saw my first live tornado when I was 9 traveling up to the Black Hills. We looked to the South and there was an F3 about 2 miles away just tearing shit apart. We kept driving and I was begging my dad to stop so we could watch and take pictures.....never did.

Then when I was 11 I was playing Junior Peewees......I jacked my first home run with runners on 2nd and 3rd. As I rounded 3rd base myself, everyone in the crowd started to scream. I looked up and there were twin funnels right above us. Just then golf ball sized hail started to fall.........never forget running to the dugout and hearing the sound of that shit hitting the tin roof.

Everyone ran for their cars and headed home.......funnels never made contact with the ground. I've been obsessed with weather ever since.

That was much better video. In the other one the chasers were under the supercell (dangerous) so it was too dark. These guys were positioned where they should be.
