Bolts from the Blue:

"He's now a better player than he's ever been, and it's truly special to watch... he's never played at this high of a level...he's better than ever...I've never seen him play like this. He's better than ever. When you're playing as well as he is, and not turning the ball over, the Chargers have a legit chance to win every game. It's a quarterback driven league, and the Chargers certainly have a great one."

BoltBeat.com:

"Philip Rivers has been playing lights out. ... he has been killing it. ... Through 4 weeks, there is only one player that has done better. Sadly that player shares our division."

Rivers is currently #2 in the NFL in passer rating (behind Peyton Manning), #2 in the NFL in most passing TDs (behind Peyton Manning), and #2 in the NFL in completion pct (behind Peyton Manning)

If you ever needed a thread to show how the vast majority of NFL fans are knee-jerk reaction, short-sided thinkers look no further than this thread.

If only the roster wasn't a complete mess the Chargers would be part of the contender talk this year. If not for a blown 28-7 lead to the Texans and a terrible defense giving up a 94 yard drive to the Titans they could be 4-0. I think "if only" may be the most spoken phrase amongst Charger fans.

If not for Manning putting up historic numbers in the same division a lot more people would be talking about Rivers. Definitely the comeback player of the year at this point.

There have been 4 AFC Offensive Player of the Week awards handed out. Two to Manning, two to Rivers. Just hope he can keep it up.

I actually like Rivers. :noidea:

It's good to see him play well, after a couple of season of looking lost.

Comeback? He played in all 16 games last year, so what exactly is he coming back from?

Brees won it in 2004 and wasn't hurt in 2003. It's most improved, not comeback from injury. But he was still a franchise QB last year with average numbers, so perhaps he wouldn't qualify in some people's eyes.

Anybody would look lost with this as your head coach:

Brees didn't play the whole season in 2003 either, he was pulled because the team sucked and then came back in 2004 and played better. Not quite the same situation.
