well guys i haven't been around in a while...moved in to a new place and don't have the internets set up yet. i should be back soon (if you guys even noticed i was gone ). anyways, i was up checking out some of my grandpa's new land and we came across this lovely print in the snow. being a dumbass i tried to take the picture with my hand there for comparison but my hand was not at ground level, so it's a little hard to tell how big it is.
a couple weeks ago they shot a mountain lion on this land, and we spotted some pretty fresh tracks today. the prints were huge, but what was even more impressive was the stride length...the damn thing's steps were almost a yard long. needless to say, when we saw those, my brother and i both chambered a round in our rifles.
For the record I've never seen a mountain lion track in the snow, so I'm no expert. I've seen many a coyote tracks and a few bobcat tracks. Cat tracks tend to be rounder. Their feet are more like a pad.
