I just don't see a scenario where both Nebraska and Penn State make it, especially since they have to play each other. If Penn State beats Nebraska, Nebraska isn't making it with a 3-9 record against the top 100 with one top 50 win, and zero Q1 wins. It won't matter that they'll be 13-5 in league play. I honestly think they'll have to win the B1GT if they lose another game in the regular season.

Penn State at a minimum needs to go 2-1 to set themselves up for a chance to play their way in at the B1GT. I think they'd need to get to the final at that point. They have a very odd resume. Do they already have too many bad losses? Maybe?

I cannot believe he isn't here bragging about that "W"!

I will brag it was a fun game and I was actually there! I usually go to one game a year as I have a client who has season tickets and he usually take me to one game and invited me last night. I debated going figuring an ass kicking but was a great night with the Frank Kaminsky night and a surprise win.

Epic choke by Northwestern.

From up 22 at half to a tied game with 6 to go in the 2nd half.

Nebraska down 7 at the half to Illinois. I think a loss here, pretty much makes them needing to win the B1G tournament to get a bid.

Nebraska takes a terrible loss against Illinois. Going to have to at least get to the Final now, if not win the B1GT. Simply beating Michigan again in the B1GT won't be enough IMO.

Yeah their SOS out of conference was just not good(RPI @ #58). I think PSU has a shot at a tourney bid if they win at Purdue here though.

I can potentially see them having a case if they get to the final of the B1GT with wins over Michigan and Michigan State. They'd only have 3 Q1 wins, but at that point they'd be 24-10 with a top 40 RPI, which will put them in the conversation, I think, at that point they'll be up against a lot of 12/13/14 loss teams, but those teams will have more Q1 wins and a better SOS.

If things go the way I think they are(4 teams from the B1G, 3 from the Pac 12) this field is going to be littered with ACC, SEC, Big 12 and Big East teams. Those 4 conferences could account for almost half the field.

I would agree, but still think they need to finish 2-0 against Michigan and Nebraska to enter the B1GT with a chance to play themselves in. Honestly, PSU is too talented to be in the position they are. I can't believe they have home losses to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Rider this season. They win those 3 games, they would be sitting really good right now.

Based off of the eye test, Penn State shouldn't even be a bubble team. They should be in. However, that isn't how CBB works and their resume says they're on the wrong side of the bubble right now. It is a shame, b/c at the end of the day, we should want the best teams in the NCAAT.

Totally agree, which makes it all the more puzzling why they have home losses to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Rider, and road losses to Northwestern and Indiana. This is why resume has to matter, those are 5 terrible losses when you get down to it, even though Rider is leading the MAAC. I'd much rather have a team like Missouri get in the field(ranked 37 in KenPom) as opposed to a team like Penn State(ranked 27). And that's even with Missouri taking an awful loss against Illinois. But Missouri has wins 5 Q1 wins and only 1 sub 100 loss(PSU has 4) when using RPI.

Also, it should be noted Purdue just isn't the same team without Vincent Edwards, PSU catching a break with him being out.

Oh, for sure. I meant that we should want the best teams to perform to their potential, unless they're a hated rival. They should always put the teams with the best resumes in the NCAAT.
