six B1Gs in the Dance...how do you think they'll do?

#7 South - Iowa. I'd really like to see them beat #10 Temple and mebbe carry that momentum over to #2 Villanova - which might be enough if Villanova's playing tired, which I doubt. Round 2.

#7 East - Wisconsin. #10 Pittsburgh wins in an excellent contest. ouch. Pound 1.

#5 Midwest - Purdue. Kills #12 LR; Edges (great game) #4 ISU; gets screwed on shitty call losing to #1 UVA. Sweet 16.

#5 South - Maryland. Decimates #12 SDAKST; Humiliates #4 California; gives #1 Kansas it's best game of the year - since the 3OT Oklahoma game, suffers same fate. Sweet 16.

#5 East - Indiana. They'll take down the #12 Mocs and the #4 Wildcats and then give #1 UNC a memorable win. <groan> Sweet 16.

#2 Midwest - Michigan State. I think they'll take nobody for granted until meeting #1? UVA in the E8 - when they go into high gear (nothing sweeter than renewing old ownership papers over elite whiney entitled programs :D)...then stunning UNC in the FF (speaking of ownership papers, fuck, they've had ours so long they need museum preservation).

Would love to see everybody else go further than I predicted (except Purdue. sorry, but we want UVA again.) Good luck alla yall!

:suds:

oh...btw...Snakes eat the Sooners 84-76 in the NCG.

I thought it was a good game througout. Badgers keep getting better-and-better on the defensive end. Next year, they lose nobody, and gain a couple sharpshooters (one was the top recruit, who was injured; the other a 7-footer, ineligible this year). Hopefully Nigel corrects the correction in his shot this year. Hopefully Ethan develops any semblence of a jumper. And hopefully Iverson spends the offseason on his shooting mechanics. With this defense, and a more consisten offense, they will be hard to beat next year.

If Bryant can for once manage to stay out of foul trouble I like our chances.

I took Indiana in this one. I just think they can score enough to win. Should be a great game, actually I think all the games tonight will be close

And the 2016 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year =

Gard Named National Coach of the Year

The Phelan award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top Division I men’s basketball coach, is named in honor of the legendary coach who spent his entire career at Mount Saint Mary’s University. Phelan led the Mountaineers to the 1962 NCAA Men’s Division II Basketball Championship. After coaching for 49 years, he retired in 2003 having amassed 830 career wins.

The Jim Phelan award committee is a 30-member panel, consisting of five current Division I head coaches, five retired head coaches, 10 current athletic directors and/or conference administrators, five members of the national media and five CollegeInsider.com staff members.

Gard took over as interim head coach at Wisconsin following the Dec. 15 retirement of long-time head coach Bo Ryan. In approximately three months, Gard turned the Badgers around in remarkable fashion and guided the group to a 12-6 record in the Big Ten and a fourth-place finish in the conference.

Finishing with a mark of 22-13, including 15-8 under Gard, UW earned its 18th-straight berth in the NCAA tournament. Gard became the first coach in NCAA history to lead his team to the Sweet 16 in his inaugural season as head coach since Xavier’s Chris Mack in 2010.

Gard, who was named full-time head coach at Wisconsin on March 7, joins a list of past recipients that includes former Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan in 2008. Other recent winners were Bob Huggins of West Virginia (2015), Tim Miles of Nebraska (2014), Dana Altman of Oregon (2013) and Mike Brey of Notre Dame (2012).
