I honestly think Iowa is better than NW and Indiana. If th we y can figure out how to close a game out they may be dangerous

I haven't seen NW yet, but may, unless Beth Mowin is p-b-png.
Indiana does not impress, but might.
Iowa can beat any major team in the country -but usually hasn't and likely won't (enough to drive their fans nuts.)

Yep. Iowa is a weird team. I'd venture that if every D1 team played their best game Iowa is a top 10-15 type team but this year's ream is so inexperienced on the bench it'll be tough to win all the games they should

We won the B1G-ACC challenge, definitely a down year for the conference though.

I still can't believe that actually happened. Minnesota can't beat any team from the state of South Dakota, yet they beat Clemson. Wisconsin can't beat any team from the state of Wisconsin and Western Illinois, but they beat Syracuse. Although I think the ACC is probably the 4th best conference this year.

I think the B1G will be lucky to get 6 teams in the dance, especially if the gap between the top 3(Purdue, MSU, and Maryland) plays out like I think and they don't lose many games outside of playing each other. Iowa has a chance to rack up wins after their first 8 conference games. Brutal schedule to open up B1G play with a home and home with MSU and a road game at Purdue.

Looking at Iowa's schedule they really get screwed big time. Have MSU, Purdue, Indiana and Michigan twice. Get Minnesota, Rutgers, Nebraska, Ohio State, Illinois and Wisconsin only once. Only get Maryland once, but it's at Maryland. The only team projected to be in the bottom 7 of the league they play twice is Penn State. The one good thing is they should close out the last 10 games like 9-1 or 8-2.

If Iowa can get through the first half of conference play at 4-5 or 5-4 they should win 11 or 12 conference games.

Agreed. Really depends how those first 8 games play out with 5 against MSU/PU/MD. Even if Iowa only gets one of those 5 that still sets you up at 4-4 heading into the final 10 where 8-2 or 9-1 is very realistic. 12-6 in the B1G will get Iowa the 4th seed most likely. Iowa would have 10 losses going into the tourney, probably setting up a 5-7 type of seed in March. Iowa's SoS will be very very good this season.

Yep that is kind of how I see it I don't think Purdue is as good as Maryland or MSU but Iowa matches up way better with those teams than they do Purdue especially Maryland. I'll say Iowa goes 2-3 in those 5 and 12-6 overall. Should be a 5 or 6 seed.

Purdue and Maryland are both better than Michigan State...barring injuries and assuming steady improvement in conference play, all three will end up making deep runs in the Dance - any one of them might win it all.

kinda hard to concentrate on speculating March with Bowl Week staring us in the face, though, eh?
two days after Iowa hosts MSU on TU29DEC in their B1G opener, MSU gets Alabama in the Cotton Bowl - and a day later Iowa gets Stanford in the Rose Bowl. gad, what fun.

If I were gonna guess B1G seeds in the tourney right now:

Purdue (1)
Michigan State (2)
Maryland (4)
Iowa (7)
Indiana (7)
Wisconsin (First Four)

I think the first five will be relatively safe. I think Wisconsin, Michigan, and Northwestern will all be fighting for 1 or 2 spots.

I think the top three are quite good, and if Iowa was mentally tougher, they'd be there as will. The (non-Rutgers) bottom isn't a trainwreck, but the middle of the B1G is as bad as I can remember.

ACC is extremely top heavy thats why they can still lose a challenge like that.

Thats what puts the Big 12(especially) and the Big East ahead of everyone right now. You are at least getting competency for the most part throughout the league.

Michigan and probably Northwestern are better bets than Wisky at this point. Especially with their schedule.

Are you projecting out or acting as if the tournament started today? If you're projecting out, that's fine, but if not Wisconsin isn't even an NIT team as of today. Same with Indiana, they aren't close to a 7 seed at the moment. Also, I think MSU is a clear #1 seed.

recipe for regular season bloodbaths, DEPT...

definitely one of the stranger years for the conference...
three teams in the AP top-10...
eleven "others" - with everything to prove and nothing to lose.

well, maybe ten others.
Rutgers...

Very lackadaisical effort by the Hawks today. A win is a win but going to need to play better than that in conference. Looked like they may have still been hungover from the collapse against Iowa St

I think the B1G has around 6-8 decent teams. The top 3 are obvious along with dark horse Northwestern. Ohio State could be putting it together as well.
