My guess: It has more to do with the fact 2 of the last 3 coaches have been fired after 9 win seasons. That's unheard of to do once. Nebraska has done it twice.

If he brought the entire staff over from Oregon State, I can guarantee you I would never again feel like we're gonna get blown out by Wisconsin or anyone else.

That much I can say with certainty.

With that staff over there he managed to beat #1 USC, #2 USC, and #2 Cal.

The rankings don't scare his teams, and that is something I like.

I don't know where you're getting this kind of optimism. Is it because you think Nebraska's talent level is that much higher than Oregon State's was? If Nebraska's talent level isn't a good deal better than Riley's previous team, I guarantee you we will see some blowouts, but I hope to hell it will be just initially.

The AD and the Chancellor are not going to tell Riley who to fill his staff with.

Well, here is the issue that I have with bringing buddies.

We've seen it with the past 2 coaches.

And when it comes to the point where a change needs to be made, it's real difficult to push your buddies out the door.

So, I hope that either Riley has the balls to do that if and when the time comes...........or I hope that they all pan out.

But are these buddies or trusted staff? How did they get hired on at OSU? 5th hour study hall or previous experience?

Probably some of both.

Trusted staff that became buddies after they'd worked together for a while.

The thing is you dance with the person who brought you. Those people gave their time and efforts to Riley at a tough place. It's time for their economic rewards.

Got no problem with it as long as their stay here depends entirely upon their performance.

edit: What I was pointing out is because the guy worked with them before (or they worked for him) it's nothing like hiring a bunch of guys, some with absolutely no experience, because you grew up with them

When MR got hired they said the staff would be filled at any cost...

I guess that means all his assistants from OSU got a raise....

Not giving up hope yet.... But I really thought someone was coming (Other than OSU coaches)
