here's what I'm seeing right now:

OC - ?
DC - Mark Banker/OSU - UNCONFIRMED
OL - Mike Cavanaugh/OSU - UNCONFIRMED
RB - ?
WR/RC - Brent Brennan/OSU
DL - ?
LB - Trent Bray/OSU
DB - ?
ST - Bruce Read/OSU - UNCONFIRMED

right now, i don't really have a huge problem with it. as noted, only 1 person is confirmed.

I want to see who he gets at the positions that are left. Keep Warren at DB, and bring in Orgeron for DL, might make for a pretty good D staff. Not sure where Steele would fit in.

on O, i don't know about either guy. as others have said, Brennan seems pretty good. and we can't exactly get worse on the o-line. need to see who he finds to fill the other position coaches.

This is what we were discussing all day long.

You were quite a bit late to the party there.

Oh I thought that article came out last night at about 8pm, after you guys discussed what assistants Riley would bring with him. Don't tell me you weren't hopeful that Riley would be bringing in some GREAT assistants, but it actually was kind of predictable he wouldn't be selecting any great assistants. What really sucks is his staff may end up being a downgrade overall than what Bo had.

Good read TT, thanks for posting so I could see. Bray is an awesome LB coach and State has always had good/great LBs. Look for Braska to be/stay strong here with Riley.

Nebraska did have SERIOUS problems linebacker coaching. Anything has to be better than what was.

The Nebraska receivers loved Rich Fisher, could be a problem there. Brennan could be an upgrade.

Offensive line was Barney Cotton's but he got yanked and John Garrison(ex NU offensive lineman) was installed in 2014. 50-50 on that one.

Bruce Read just got handed the keys to pretty darn good special teams. If Gabe Miller comes back

The excellent return man is De'Mornay Pierson-El true freshman
Gabe Miller medical redshirt sophomore, scholarship long snapper, real good
Punter Sam Foltz, a pretty good punter, just get him to stop the occasional shank
Kicker could need help here. Drew Brown is a legacy kicker but is not bad. Just not his big brother.

If Bruce Read messes it up, then we know.

Defensive coordinator, John Papuchis was bad, bad, bad. You will have to do a lot of convincing to get me to think Mark Banker is an upgrade. I have googled him and read a LOT of negative stuff about him over the years from the Oregon State fanbase and the State of Oregon media. I am on record as saying Banker should not be allowed within 500 miles of Lincoln.

Banker is the one I don't understand either... The rest I don't have a major issue with.... We better hit a home run on the OC... And keep Brown , Kaz and Warren

Yes Banker is scary. He may be another Cosgrove or God forbid, maybe even worse! Yeowsa!

There may be too much loyalty by Riley for that to happen.

Miller had back surgery, I hadn't heard what exactly was done, but that usually does take a long time to heal depending on the problem.

Fair statements to say about Banker. He is a very good D-coor that gets the best out of what he has to play with. With Braska talent this guy would thrive. Remember he is the guy that fielded all those Beaver D teams that defeated ranked teams, has been with Riley forever. IF Riley did bring him over, he would succeed as well. You guys could do alot worse than Banker at D-coord in my OP.

I'm horrible at finding stats. Can someone look up Oregon State's average yards and points allowed per game vs the average for the offenses they played against? Does that make sense? If he consistently held teams under their average with the lower level of talent, then I don't see a problem with the guy.

just looking at the 2014 schedule does have me nervous, giving up 30 to Hawaii (only avg 21 this year), 31 to CU (avg 28.5), 38 to Stanford (avg 26), 45 to Cal (avg 38), 39 to Wash St (avg 32).

I won't do it, Brasky or HuskerinSECland will call me for being to negative. When you have seasons that are 5-7, 3-9, and 5-7 in the last five years you can make an assumption, but if I make the assumption it won't be justified.

When you have seasons that are 5-7, 3-9, 5-7 using FCS talent in a P5 conference It is unjustified to assume he will do the same with FBS talent in a P5 conference.

Honestly I think it is rather ignorant to make such an assumption and I am really tired of everyone who is beating this guy to death before he even has a chance to coach one practice.

OSU with fcs talent in equal to NU talent, so as you can see in my equation the matter is resolved
