Its legit trust me, the accuracy of trasititive property is undeniable here, we match up game for game going back as many as 5 years with the Beavs, talent was never an issue

When you have seasons that are 5-7, 3-9, 5-7 using FCS talent in a P5 conference It is unjustified to assume he will do the same with FBS talent in a P5 conference.

Honestly I think it is rather ignorant to make such an assumption and I am really tired of everyone who is beating this guy to death before he even has a chance to coach one practice.

TBH I'm seeing a lot of "playing both sides of the coin". A lot of effort to justify and put a positive spin on anything and everything remotely critical with the default being he's a "nice guy".

On one side of the coin I've read and heard "what a great eye he has for talent, he can find diamonds in the rough that nobody else sees, he's a great recruiter, he's one of the best in developing players".

On the other side of the coin (when questioned about his records) it's "He struggled because it was Oregon St, he had FCS talent, he didn't have the money for good assistants".

Are those not contradictions?

The only thing I've heard that's consistent is that he's a "nice guy".

Nice guy or asshole, you've still got to put all the pieces together, get players in the right places, and have them play with good fundamentals and discipline.

They are not contradictions because the difference between top teams and power teams isn't really the top guys...it's depth. So while he might find diamonds in the rough and develop them, it's impossible to get enough of those to compete week in and week out in a conference like the PAC.

I wrote down all my work in the equation Hizzle, talent wise OSU players equal to NU players

Its legit trust me, the accuracy of trasititive property is undeniable here, we match up game for game going back as many as 5 years with the Beavs, talent was never an issue

Calling BS here. Recruiting class rankings over the last 10 years say that NU average class rank was 24.5, while OSU class rank was 47.7. A difference of 23.2 places.

Trust me, I looked them up.

year NU OSU
2014 36 63
2013 22 45
2012 30 44
2011 16 43
2010 26 57
2009 42 50
2008 24 54
2007 20 40
2006 21 33

I don't see a contradiction either. So it's harder to get talent there so he recruits his ass off to get what he has. Did anyone say he was recruiting 5
And yes I like the hire. You know what I like best? He says he will evaluate the players and use themto their strenths. Bo's hammer is going to rust in a closet somewhere. And he loves the historical attributes of the walk on program here. Yeah, it sounds like he might even learn a couple of our high school coaches names.
The staff? I have said it's his team and he's free to do as he pleases. I also said I hope it is with the condition that if they don't perform they're gone. But that would go unspoken if not for Bo and his disfunctional loyalties.

Yeah as for your inference that bringing his staff here is the same as Bo hiring friends I call BS. That was pulled out of your ass. There is nothing at all except sour grapes to even make that inference from.

I have said over and over that I don't like the bashing when he hasn't had a chance to prove himself. Yes it annoys the shit out of me that you, HIB10 Xorb and a few others have already tried him and fired him for his failed seasons here at Nebraska and he hasn't even coached a game.

So, no BS? I am losing track of who is on which side of the fence here.

It was interesting info to look up none the less. Never compared classes before.

He had me going until the transitive properties.

Just following the Nancy narrative, good work on the stats however Tom

As oak eluded to, when one or several of our guys graduates or goes on IR we have the talent to replace them as needed, the Beavs call up the next guy from School of Awesome Haircuting. I can't say with all certainty that these new coaches are going to light it up I guess we'll see but I can't argue their record vs ours just based off w/l alone without doing some extensive research on player personnel

I'm horrible at finding stats. Can someone look up Oregon State's average yards and points allowed per game vs the average for the offenses they played against? Does that make sense? If he consistently held teams under their average with the lower level of talent, then I don't see a problem with the guy.

just looking at the 2014 schedule does have me nervous, giving up 30 to Hawaii (only avg 21 this year), 31 to CU (avg 28.5), 38 to Stanford (avg 26), 45 to Cal (avg 38), 39 to Wash St (avg 32).

Oregon St (5-7) (2014)

Average Yards Allowed: 406.3
Average Points Allowed: 31.6

Portland St (FCS) (3-9) (W 29-14)

Average Yards PG: 408
Average Points PG: 20.2

@ Hawaii (4-9) (W 38-30)

Average Yards PG: 364.4
Average Points PG: 20.9

San Diego St (7-5) (W 28-7)

Average Yards PG: 400
Average Points PG: 25.8

@ Southern Cal (8-4) (L 10-35)

Average Yards PG: 452
Average Points PG: 35.1

@ Colorado (2-10) (W 36-31)

Average Yards PG: 439
Average Points PG: 28.5

Utah (8-4) (L 23-29 2OT)

Average Yards PG: 374
Average Points PG: 30.2

@ Stanford (7-5) (L 14-38)

Average Yards PG: 386
Average Points PG: 25.7

California (5-7) (L 31-45)

Average Yards PG: 495
Average Points PG: 38

Washington St (3-9) (L 32-39)

Average Yards PG: 517
Average Points PG: 31.8

Arizona St (9-3) (W 35-27)

Average Yards PG: 446
Average Points PG: 37

@ Washington (8-5) (L 13-37)

Average Yards PG: 390
Average Points PG: 30.8

Oregon (12-1) (L 19-47)

Average Yards PG: 565
Average Points PG: 45.5

You think he might have had a bug put in his ear on what to say in his presser?

Nawwwwww...

Yeah cuz nobody knows anything about Nebraska's walk on program history. Particularly an experienced coach who has been around for a couple of decades.

It's a well kept secret.

Nawwwwww...

There it is. Exactly what I am talking about. Is there a reason you would think that? Something to base it on? Perhaps a source?

I have lived my life taking a person at their word until they give me reason not to. Then once they give me reason not to it is going to take a damn good reason to change that.

Right now He has said it. I have no reason to think he didn't mean it. If you have a source please share it. If it is just more sour grapes because Eichorst didn't do what you wanted? Grow Up!

I could pull up a hundred clips of new hire coaches that told everyone what they wanted to hear in their initial presser.

It's what they're supposed to do. It's done to inspire the fan base.

So he promises to resurrect the walk on program of yester year and then when he gets here blows it off.

Yeah that's a good idea.

Why don't you admit it. You are not willing to give this guy a chan ce and you are going to bad mouth him at every turn.

I have absoutely no problem if someone doesn't like the hire and says so but to just make shit up is fucking bullshit.

I'm done with all of you. I just hope to God you don't create a self fulfilling prophesy by running off any talent he may of been able to bring here, player and staff wise.
