Explain how he only hired him because they played poker together every Wednesday night and ignore the fact that he has actual coaching experience. You know, like you have done for the rest of his hires.

What's Frosty have to do with it?

Is Langsdorf a "buddy" of Riley?

Yes.

See, no need to spin.

Yes.

See, no need to spin.

Is that automatically a bad thing?

No. It just is when people are hired BECAUSE they are buddies, without considering whether or not they have the qualifications for the position.

Doesn't say anywhere that they are buddies, friends or pals. He is a former member of MR's staff, as well as others.

Curious to see how R_A spins this into another "hiring your buddies" rant.

Is that automatically a bad thing?

No. It just is when people are hired BECAUSE they are buddies, without considering whether or not they have the qualifications for the position.

I don't know if it's a bad thing or not. :noidea:

I was simply responding to Tom's troll post. He is a "buddy" of Riley. No spin needed.

RA seems to think that you can have zero contact our knowledge of someone you hire or they are automatically hired under the "buddy" banner. Experience be dammed.

Langsdorf

1997 - 1998 - Oregon St (GA)
2005 - 2013 - Oregon St (OC/QB)

^^^Don't look up there^^^^

v v v Read below v v v

It is purely coincidental that he was hired by Riley at Nebraska. There is not, nor has there ever been, a relationship between Riley and Langsdorf.

LMAO

No you fucking idiot. It's clear he was ONLY hired because they are buddies. Childhood friends probably. The fact that the guy is good at what he does has nothing to do with it.

DL is the Ying and MR is the Yang. Believe me, you want those two together...each makes the other better. Hard to explain, I really don't know them as people...I have watched the end product on the field for a long time now.

Why wasn't he OC at the Giants?

Or anywhere other than Oregon St for that matter?

The fact that he is a buddy has a huge part in why he was hired.

What kind of a coincidence would it take if a guy hires all his buddies and they end up all being the BEST for the job?

The reality of it all is, it is not easy to hire new guys because families have to relocate and all that junk that we fans always forget about. It is just simply easier to hire guys whom you have a relationship with already.

Not every one of these coaches that we are bringing in right now is top notch.

Probably because he didn't have a lot of NFL experience prior to that. He was only with the Saints for 2 years, and that was his only previous NFL job. He was an OC in college for 8 years, though.

What there is hope for is that given the right situation and the right combination of coaches, maybe we can build something special.

Tom Osborne had a lot of unheard-ofs on his staff as well, but over time they meshed and made something great.

All we have is hope.

Just read the ESPN article on the hire. I like this:

Under McAdoo and Langsdorf in 2014, Manning saw his completion percentage rise to a career-high 63.1 and his interception total drop from 27 in 2013 to 14 in 2014. Manning also set career highs in completions and pass attempts, reached the 30-touchdown mark for the second time in his career and threw for 4,410 yards -- the second-highest single-season total of his career.

Nebraska Cornhuskers hire Danny Langsdorf, New York Giants QB coach, as offensive coordinator - ESPN New York

I can see your concern RA...new coach with little overall success at the PAC level and the fact that Riley brought the entire staff over from Oregon State. Makes sense from a team that enjoyed GREAT success for a very long time...nothing like Braska and their "storied" program no doubt.

I don't see Riley et al completely over-hauling your team, but rather "tweaking it" slowing and filling in the blank spots is all. Banker will stop the bleeding on defense for sure as scoring goes by the opponent. Your offense, when Riley involves TEs, WRs and RBs into the game will both improve the run game, which is great already, AND the pass game. Each will feed off the other in my opinion.

Stay concerned till proved else wise I say....nothing wrong with that.

I also think the "Why isn't he the Giants OC?" question is a bit puzzling.

What were the things that we thought Bo might do after he left? Wasn't it go and be a D coordinator at a P5 school, or be a position coach in the NFL? That's kinda how that stuff usually works.

Time will tell, sirs.

We can praise or curse every move made, but it won't help or change anything.

We'll just have to see. It will be fun dreaming again. Something I couldn't do under Bo anymore because I KNEW 100% what I was getting when we played decent opponents.
