You know, for as much as I dislike Bellows, a small part of me does admire how he worked himself up from the ECHL to become a NHL player that could end up playing 1000 games in the league before he hangs them up.

/Of course, it's a teeny tiny part that requires an electron microscope to see, but it's there.

Just to be clear Dahlen is far from a blue-chipper. He's not even close to an untouchable prospect. His bust potential is not insignificant (neither is his boom potential). I'm fine with giving him up. But you're trying to tell me you can't get more value for him than a 35 year old Burrows?

DGB just put up a few tweets saying basically this might be one of the few years Ottawa has a chance to take the division considering the things going on with the other Atlantic teams and how they're all building well for the future and the thinking there is "fuck it, go for it". Doesn't make it much of a better deal but if he's their guy, he's their guy.

Also with regards to high bust potential, I'm seeing a lot of "he's a point-per-game player in Sweden". Second division Sweden point per game player as a draft + 1 when you were already pretty old in your draft class (December bday) isn't something I'd put a lot of stock into. A prospect's still a prospect.

All fair points but when you don't spend a lot of money, don't really dip into FA that much and have a top heavy prospect list, you'd be best to manage your assets. Dahlen, if he was going to be dealt, should have been packaged for a bona fide top 6 forward.

I just see his value as more than Burrows, who I don't think will be the difference maker between winning 1 round and winning 3.

Meh. It was a bad trade but it will likely not amount to much. I just think they could have maximized the return on their asset ALOT better than they did.

I was working with a buddy of mine that is a Bruins Fan. It was nearing the end of my shift and i didn't know what happened till 15 minutes later.
