Big weekend in B1G Baseball this weekend. #3 Ohio State plays at #1 Minnesota and #4 Nebraska hosts #2 Indiana. Pretty sure all 4 teams have secured a spot in the B1G tournament but there could possibly be some movement between the top 4 seeds this weekend. If Huskers sweep IU they could at least move up a spot to the #3 seed.

I'm too lazy to figure out the rest of the scenarios. But at first glance I think we need to be Buckeye fans too this weekend. Best case scenario I believe is if Skers sweep IU and Buckeyes sweep Minnesota, that at least gives Huskers 1 more in the win column than Minnesota. Does that mean they would potentially be in a tie with the Buckeyes for 1st place?

Regardless, I like how Nebraska is playing right now. I'd give them as good of a shot as anybody to win the tournament if they keep it up.

There is a scenario where we can win it. I think we hold the tiebreaker vs Minnesota, so we need OSU to win 2 of 3 and we would tie for first but take the tiebreaker. If OSU sweeps then we tie with them but lose the tiebreaker. I might be butchering that, just trying to remember what I read.

As of today, Baseball America has us in the Louisville regional. D1 Baseball has us in Miami.

I don't get what has changed all that much in the last several weeks that we are now projected as in. A few weeks ago everybody was saying that we need to win the tournament to get a bid as our RPI wasn't good enough to get an at-large bid. Our RPI could not have changed that drastically

Well crap. I can't figure out what the tiebreakers would be. We didn't play either OSU or Minnesota this year

Okay...here are the tiebreakers. I need to figure out who our common opponents are.

If two teams are tied in the final regular season standings, the following tiebreaker shall be used to determine the automatic qualifier and/or higher seed in the conference tournament:

1. If the tied teams have not played each other as part of the conference schedule, move to the next step in the tiebreaker process. If the two teams played each other as part of the conference schedule, the winner of the game or series of the games between the two tied teams shall automatically qualify for the tournament and/or earn the higher seed.
   
   
2. If the teams are still tied, the team with the best winning percentage against Big Ten common opponents within the conference schedule shall automatically qualify for the tournament and/or earn the higher seed.
   
   
3. If the teams are still tied, the team with the best overall RPI shall automatically qualify for the tournament and/or earn the higher seed.
   
   
4. If the teams are still tied, automatic qualification to the tournament and/or higher seed shall be determined by a flip of the coin to be conducted by the Commissioner (or designee).

that talk of missing without winning the tournament had just come after getting swept at michigan, we were on a 5 game losing streak. now they've won 2 out of 3 in all 4 of the latest series, along with beating Creighton, Omaha, Kansas, Kansas St, so 12-4 over that period. only way they might get left out is if they flop in this last series go 0-3 which I think there is a chance they miss the B1G Tournament.

None of those scenarios seem like good odds to me. I don't see them sweeping IU this weekend and if they go 0-3 against IU then I definitely don't like their chances of winning the tourney.

Agreed. Indiana's got a decent program going 'for a Big 10 school'. A sweep is highly unlikely.

Winning a game or two in the tourney is a possibility being that it's in Omaha again. The Huskers made it to the championship game last time it was here. I.E. 3 wins.

Coincidentally they lost it to Indiana. The Huskers were never really in that game. Had a couple opportunities to tighten things up but left runners stranded.

A 4 way battle for the conference championship and BTN will only show two live baseball games over this 3 day period.

At this point in the season (with spring football finished up) live baseball should be a priority. It should have been a priority for weeks now.
