Yup. They'll win a couple of games through the season that give hope, but when you look at the overall picture it's not impressive.

I knew when they opened the season with a series loss to College of Charleston they weren't going to be very good. College of Charleston was on a first year head coach (Clemson took their previous coach).
College of Charleston didn't make a Regional.

Notice I haven't been talking much baseball. Erstad will get another season because he got to a Regional, but he did it in a crappy conference that he didn't even win (regular season or tourney). He'll keep his job even if he doesn't make a Regional next season. We're stuck with him unless he goes 4 straight years without a Regional appearance IMO.

In coaching, you've either got it or you don't. Erstad who'd never as much coached a jr. high team before being given the Husker job, ain't got it. Shaking up his staff might help. Sometimes you're only as good as your assistants.

Huskers will have to win 4 straight to win this Regional now.

Eichorst fired Bopleeny and he made the post season each of his 7 years. Erstad isn't the douchebag that Bopleeny is, but he's got similar results. One could even make the case that he has fewer results.

If I was Eichorst I would quite simply sit down with Erstad and let him know what the expectations are for the next couple of seasons.

Lay it out there so he knows his job isn't secure just by getting by in a shit conference.

But Eichorst doesn't talk to people, so that won't happen.

I think Eichorst is more worried about his legacy with Riley. Then, there is the new Women's Basketball Coach. The Women's Rifle Coach is doing pretty good. I think those are his only three hires at Nebraska.

Hopefully, 2016 will be a winning football season. I won't even contemplate the alternative.

Since I am only a fairweather baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, track, gymnastics, bowling, rifle team fan, I don't think any of the other sports really matter except for football. As long as the student athletes in those sports are actually student athletes, I am fine with it.

I still think baseball is closer to winning a conference title than football or basketball. That's not really saying much though as it's a fairly average baseball conference.
