For those that don't follow baseball, like me

Nebraska is 19-9
Nebraska is 5-1 in the B1G

Wednesday April 6 they play Omaha. Which must be Peyton Manning's play call.

Friday Nebraska starts a triple header with baseball powerhouse Northwestern(7-22)

Even the B1G doesn't care about baseball, their website has standings as of March 14, 2016.

Michigan and Michigan State seem to be the teams to beat.

nebraska plays at Michigan April 15, 16, and 17

Huskers won another B1G series this weekend, winning by 1 run on Friday and Saturday and then getting their arses handed to them on Sunday. This team needs to lock it down. A win tomorrow against Crayton would be a nice boost heading into the weekend series in Ann Arbor which should be the biggest series of the year so far.

How come no one is talking about the Creighton win over Nebraska in baseball?

This is a big weekend for the baseball team in Ann Arbor. Most eyes will be on the Spring football game.

probably because i forgot about it. it was on TV last night, i was going to watch, but promptly forgot.

sounds like it was a good game with the husker hitters again not coming through in particular the top of the order. creighton has a good team and the game was in Omaha, so it doesn't seem like a horrible result. agree about the big weekend in ann arbor, this team needs some wins on the road against good competition.

I was looking forward to watching the game at home, then got home and realized that I told my wife to downgrade our Directv package because we don't need 8,432 channels. So turns out she changed our package and I no longer get CBS Sports Network. So seeing how distraught I was she called DirecTV and got the channel back just for last night.

This team is toast. I don't have the confidence in them that they can play consistent baseball and week in and week out. Yes Crayton has a solid team this year, yes this game was in Omaha, but hell I'd bet there were more Husker fans in the stands than Crayton. That's a game they should have won. And they should have swept Northwestern, and they should have beat K-State last week.

My guess is this team finishes 4th or 5th in the B1G and is on the bubble again for a NCAA birth. If the pitching can get locked down and the offense stays hot, then they can compete for the B1G championship. But until that happens this team is simply average.

Huskers took 2 of 3 from Southland Conference Powerhouse Nicholls State this weekend. Huskers move to 25-15 overall and play Crayton tomorrow night in Omaha. RPI currently sits at 85 :L

Nebraska 28-16
B1G record 9-6

Nebraska has 3 game Series with Michigan State(10-5), Penn State(10-8), and Indiana(11-4) to close out the season. Nebraska at best can be 18-6 in the Big 10 or at worst can be 9-15 in B1G play.

Each of those is a big Series for Nebraska because all three teams are in the top half of the conference.

Based on my complete lack of baseball knowledge, I will guess the final B1G record will be 13-11.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet that they get swept this weekend at Sparty, go 2-1 against PSU and 1-2 against Indiana. That means 3-6 down the stretch in B1G play and 12-12 in conference overall.

.500 record. Somehow that just sounds about right these days.

1-2 Sparty
3-0 PSU
2-1 Indiana.

Indiana is horrible on the road and huskers are 15-5

Won at Sparty 6-3 today. The Huskers need to win 7 of the last 10 regular season games and then 2 in the Big 10 tournament, if they want to make Regionals.

Really? It takes that many wins? (BTW, Texas also really sucks in baseball, 21-26) Looks like Nebraska has a pretty good record at Hawks Field.

I was shocked when I read Nebraska won in East Lansing yesterday. Pretty impressive. Not sure what the weather is like in East Lansing but it is rather chilly here. The game is at 12:05 PM which is 11:05 AM in Lincoln.

My youngest son and I are going to see the Captain America Civil War movie. Then, I have to take the wife to some artsy fartsy thing, you know, because it is Mother's Day.

Yeah. You need about 38 wins. Especially if you're in the Big 10.

The Huskers are sitting at 29 wins with 9 games remaining in the regular season. Then the Big 10 Tourney here in Omaha.

IMO, the Huskers will have to win the Big 10 Tournament and get the Big 10 auto-bid. That's assuming they make it, which isn't a sure thing.

I wonder how well Eichorst likes Erstad?

....

I wonder how well Eichorst likes Erstad?

Ouch on winning 38.

Each of their last names begins with an E.

This is what is important to Eichorst, a coach that says the right things.

"Anytime you have a transition, you’re not quite sure how they’re going to play out," he continued. "I knew this: I knew we had a really experienced, respected coach who would do and say things that we could all be proud of."

"We meet with our coaches regularly throughout the year both formally and informally to discuss a variety of topics in support of our mission," he says. "One of the great characteristics of our positive (athletic) department culture is the daily interaction and camaraderie of our coaches and staff."

If Darin sees something like this in the press.......

That trust was evident in Eichorst's support of football coach Bo Pelini late in the season.

"My approach has always been not to comment publicly about our coaches until their full seasons are complete, as I strongly believe it is unfair and counter to best practices," he announced on Nov. 30. "However, given the volume of unfounded speculation and conjecture about our head football coach, I want to reaffirm what I have said many times since I arrived at the University of Nebraska – that I positively respect, appreciate and support our football student-athletes, coaches and staff, as we do everyone in the Husker family. We very much look forward to our upcoming bowl game and Coach Pelini continuing to lead our program in the future."

Rubber-match today against Sparty today at noon. TV coverage is at noon on BTN. Of course the game BTN chooses to air is at noon on a Monday when they know nobody will watch it, rather than either of the two weekend games. :L
