Those damn facts keep ruining Wiggy's crusade. If JR Smith is/was so valuable, why didn't anyone beat down his door to get him?

It is different for a team to overpay him and have to deal with his bullshit, it also would have to make him start over. The Cavs KNOW what he can do on this team and they have proved they can handle the JR nonsense, other than that one incident he has been good on and off the court. I'll take that all day, bc without the injuries he is a 4th or 5th option, which helps him greatly, on just about every other team he is a better option, which he has proved he cannot handle that also.

Simple google.
As far as qualified 3 pt FG% shooters, he ranked 39th.
To be qualified, you had to make 82 or more.
Yep, based on basketball reference he ranked 39th among active players at .3719. Hell even Jodie Meeks slightly beats him on that list.

You must never have been to a club in Cleveland.
No, can't say that I have. I've partied in SF clubs & other parts of the Bay Area, LA clubs & once in NY.

He ranked 14th in 3 point FG attempts, there were only 6 other players that shot more 3's at a higher percentage. So yah.

Whatever.
If he's launching a volume of shots during a lot of game, opponents will be thrilled.

Well coming off the bench his attempts will go down, so shooting at a 40% clip I will take that all, like I said as a 4th or 5th option.

As a fan,of course you take him, why not?
The deeper the better.

Thing is, the Cavs have their Big 3, who all shoot 3's.
They have Jones, Jefferson and Mo.

You could, almost in a way, liken this to the Heat with Miller (even though the Heat needed Miller less then the Cavs need Smith IMO).

Miller wasn't worth 15M out of pocket and neither is Smith.

Gilbert simply has no choice.

Perfect price to bring back JR.

The simple truth is JR CANNOT be one of your 3 best players. He cannot handle the pressure. He has proved that over and over again.

You were bragging him up the first few weeks after the trade. What happened?

Because J.R. isn’t concerned with being top anything. He just wants to get paid a few million to live off without having to put in the hard work to be the best he can.
He’s lazy & has no work ethic. If he worked hard he could be on a top 10 list. But, he’d rather kick it & make it rain in clubs than concentrate on improving his game. Simple.

You're smart as well as beautiful.

Notice where Ray Allen is on those lists?

Like I said, the Miller amnesty was a no brainer.

Exactly- the Cavs needed a 3 pt shooter that had some length on the perimeter and Jr filled that role perfectly. For the Cavs he shot 39% from 3- and took - now that i looked over 7 3's a game. To shoot that well, with that much volume is very valuable. He is a very good 4th or 5th offensive option- and proved at times he could really step up and have big games. His Eastern Conference Finals was absolutely as brilliant as was his Finals was horrible. The guy is just not good enough to be your 2nd or 3rd best player- and like i said- he has proved that time and time again. 5Mill to make him your 4th or 5th option offensively? perfect role- especially on a good team with good veteran leadership!

Glad he is back and that Dan would spend the money to bring him back. Lets just hope Tristan is resolved here sometime before training camp or early on during training cmap.

out of the top 40 guys in the league with the most 3 pt attempts- 10 of them were on 4 teams that went to the conference Finals.

in the entire league- for a team- Golden State was 1, Toronto was 2, Cleveland was 5, and Houston was 14th in 3pt % made---

Three pointers attempted? Houston 1, Cleveland 2, Golden State 4, Toronto 9.

That is the way the league is going- you have to be able to shoot the 3.

Fun Fact- Miami was 19th in Attempts and 24th in %.

Just one of the reasons why it was worth it to bring back Jr. You gotta be able to shoot the 3 at both high volume, and a high make rate.

Last year when everyone was injured and UD and Bird were launching them?

Or the previous 4 years which resulted in winning 2 titles?

Thing is, even though we sucked, our season ended just like yours minus the hope and expectations.

Are you questioning whether a teams ability on hitting the 3pt shot is not a huge indicator of success?

That is the way the game is going. Teams that ignore that are being left behind.

There are 16 playoff teams each year (obviously). Do you know how many teams made the playoffs that WERE NOT top 16 in 3pt percentage?

3.

13 of the 16 playoff teams finished in the top 16 of 3 pt percentage. That is not a coincidence.

The 3 teams that made it that were poor shooting teams? The Griz- who have an amazing frontline- and the 2 teams that made it in the bottom of the East- the CEltics and Nets.

I know very well that it's become a big part of the game.
I'm not stupid.

I also know you attempted to cheap shot the Heat again, which is pretty stupid.

With as good as players are at shooting these days... taking 3 pointers just makes too much sense.

If your team takes 100 2 pointers and shoots 55% (a ridiculously good 2-pt %)... and my teams takes 100 3 pointers.... we only have to shoot 37% to beat you (a reasonable 3-pt % these days).
