On Monday, 15 Clippers advertisers said they have terminated or suspended their sponsorship, although most expressed their continued support for the team's players, coaches and fans.
Announcing their departure were CarMax, State Farm, Kia, Virgin America, Red Bull, Mercedes-Benz, LoanMart, Southern California Ford Dealers, Yokohama Tire, Burger King, Sprint, Samsung, the Commerce Hotel & Casino, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and the company that makes Corona beer.
The flight of carmaker KIA and insurance giant State Farm were particularly noteworthy because the companies employ as spokesmen two of the team's stars — Blake Griffin and Chris Paul. Both companies said their ad campaigns would continue to feature the two Clippers.

Donald Sterling would be wise to sell now while he can - if he tries to hold the company - he is going to lose that fat ass of his:laugh3:

Not really. When he bought the team in 1981, he paid $12.5 million. The team is currently valued at $545 million according to Forbes.

Loanmart probably only did it because they got more publicity announcing the termination than they did in actually advertising. Are those the guys that have that Jimmy Cash dickhead?

The KKK has released a statement:

"In light of Mr Sterlings comments we would like to point out several facts:

* Mr Sterling's NBA Team employ's dozens of African Americans and has for decades.
* He was involved in a romantic relationship with an African American women.
* He was scheduled to be honored by NAACP next month.

It is our feeling that Mr Sterling is the worst racist we have ever seen and falls far below our standards.
His application will be denied immediately."

I honestly dont think the nba should do anything. They were things said in private with an intended audience of one. Had he said these things in public then fry his ass. This is murica. If you dont wanna like black people, you dont have to. However, if youre representing a brand and promote unpopular views publicly that brand ( nba) shpuld punish you. If you do it privately and that person outs you, its up to the market to decide, imo. His comments wont hurt the nba, but will likely hurt the clippers franchise.

I think its up to the fans, players, coaches and sponsors to handle this. Thatts just my opinion, tho, and the nba will likely try a big fine to save face because Im sure most of their market doesnt share my opinion. Seeing a half empty arena next game would be something.

I believe that the other NBA owners should pressure him - both privately and in public. They should make him as uncomfortable as possible and also start to erode his bottom line. Like it or not - this affects the other teams and owners. Beyond simply being wrong this puts a huge PR hit on the rest of the league which ultimately hits them in the wallet.

If he hangs on to the team and does not change his behavior he is looking at a disaster to include loss of fans, players leaving the team with no good replacements, minimal sponsorship and being shunned by both his fellow owners and the public in general. Not very desirable (& at his age why not sell the team).

The goal should be to sell the team shortly & perhaps even change the name of the team. I see nothing wrong with the other owners taking this approach. You don't have to (and probably can't) force Sterling to sell the team, but you must likely can force his hand on this one.

Well, considering that Sterling is a Jew, his application was probably immediately thrown in the trash anyway.

Yeah, um, no. Depending on your definition of rich, but she blacklisted herself from the billionaires (and up) club. Maybe a quick fuck in a bathroom somewhere for a new Kia...

Lol...there's always another rich sucker man...may not be a billionaire, but she'll latch on to somebody else eventually.

I didn't know either until I was reading a couple of items from previous cases brought against him. What got me was that the wife stuck with him through all the lurid details of that case. Maybe they have an "arrangement"... who knows.

Kinda made me feel filthy reading about it.

Yeah, he might be rich but he has no class at all. But it's his marriage I guess? :noidea:

My biggest problem is that the racism has overshadowed the playoffs... How dare the NBA, make this such a big issue... It is simple just fine sterling a huge amount and send force him to go to some kind of racial tolerance class... And that is it, the NBA should be embarrassed that they made such a big deal of this, and the Clippers should be embarrassed if they are letting this disruption get in the way of them winning games!!!!

the NBA isnt making this a huge issue. ESPN and other sports media outlets are, the NBA is just reacting to all the noise the sports media is creating

Agrees on a publicity punishment, donates a shit ton to an inner city project, withdraws from public view for a bit and then smacks his bitch up.

As long as he doesnt get arrested for smacking his bitch up everthing fades away.

Im guessing that HIS plan.

He doesn't sound like a "smack his bitch up" sort of guy. In fact he sounded kind of submissive and pathetic on the extended recording I listened to. I almost felt sorry for him.

As I have said in several posts(if you have read them all) I doubt that they are going to force him to sell the team - he's 81 and the chances of him living more than a few more years are most likely remote( I shouldn't say this because my mother is 89 and the thought of Sterling being around 8 more years is revolting)

Hopefully you got that gene from your mom!

From what I'm hearing, they may not have the 2/3 vote to oust him...at least the owners with public comments, but the vote is not public...Cuban is on record stating outing him is risky, on the other hand the HOU owner seems adamant he should be out.

I think for now we can expect a fine in the million range and I still think some owners will try to convince him to sell on his own.

Yeah - I tell you - She came close to death a few times and I nursed her back - it's a tough deal and tougher than dealing with kids. With your children - you can threaten to beat the shit out of them if they don't behave(not that it will help any), but you can't threaten old people - lol.

I seriously doubt they will make him sell the team - but fortunately that may be a mute point because the Clippers cannot continue with both fans and sponser and as of right now he has very few if any. If he doesn't find a way to do huge damage control he is in deep trouble over his affair with a 23 year old girl. less then 1/3rd his age and deserves it

Considering his wife is claiming she got 1.8 million dollars worth of gifts and money that belongs to her, I would say it's been quite the opposite. As disgusting as he is - I think he is entitled to get something for :lol:his money.
