Texas leads the AL in homers since the ASB.

And since Betts hit like 80 homers today they are tied with 41 a piece.

1) Texas has played the most games of any AL team since the ASB and the most games in all of MLB for the season.

2) I don't care about a 3-week sample size.

There are multiple credible baseball writers who have even begun writing articles about why HR's are being hit at record paces, particularly by average to above average players. They've openly questioned whether steroids are on the rise again or if MLB is using juiced baseballs. We don't have a single player anywhere near the league leaders in HR.

Cause when in doubt just blame steroids right? Offense is cyclical in baseball. When more and more big names start going down for failed tests I will buy it. Until then, it's pure speculation and sour grapes.

This inning is on you Banister you dumbass, he shouldn't have been out there this inning anyway. He had thrown more pitches and gone deeper than his last 10 starts I think

As much as I'd like to bitch about AJ's outing, and there's certainly room-to-roam there, the fact remains....if you don't score, this eliminates the possibility of winning.

If they had put up 5 runs today, Barnette would have started this inning.

Only to AJ's ERA, not on the outcome of this one

Sadly true...I am not mad at AJ. Wouldn't have brought him out in the 7th, but the way the offense looks it didn't matter.

For some reason, any time steroids are brought up, you are so adamant to say it's not happening because of "tests" and you call it sour grapes.

I'm not sure where that comes from, but it's very ignorant. Sorry, but it is. Steroids are still rampant throughout the game. You think "tests" are stopping them?! Really? Are you not aware that the designers of those drugs are always coming up with new formulas to beat those tests? They even just ran a story about Olympic athletes and how a lot of doping isn't caught because of the sophistication of the PEDs these days. Furthermore, have you not seen any of the polls of current players which ask them if steroid use is still ongoing? Multiple players responded that they actually know players who are doing it. Rob Dibble just called out Jose Altuve for roiding. Dibble's a jerk, but he knows baseball players. People questioned Canseco's claims because he was a jerk, yet he was 100% telling the truth.

You might not want to believe it, but there are multiple players roiding. Period.

Maybe Jeff will understand he cant pitch into the 7th and if the game is close in the future he won't try and stretch him that extra inning when he's up at 100 pitches. Doubtful though he doesnt seem to figure out much

I don't care about steroids. You bring them up quite a bit, and you never have the important thing...PROOF. Without proof I have no choice but to call it sour grapes.

Where is Dibble's proof about Altuve? How would he even know that Altuve is using anything?

There are likely many contributing factors to the rise in offense, (higher average velocity, changes to the baseball, warmer average game temps, a huge injection of young talent that grew up playing NOTHING but baseball as kids) but I highly doubt that PEDs are the driving cause or even that big of a factor. What you're talking about would have be mean a ridiculous number of players are using, and with all they have to lose I don't see it being that likely.

True on both parts. Claudio or someone else should have started the 7th.

So how is it sour grapes for all of the other people like credible sports writers who are making those claims? What ax do they have to grind?

Why would current players openly admit, without naming names, that steroids are still a big problem? What is their reason for admitting to that?

Do you honestly think tests are foolproof? Are tests the only proof you'll accept? If that's the case, do you honestly contend Barry Bonds never took steroids?

I don't know which credible sports writers you are talking about. The few pieces I found were guys like Schoenfield.

I don't really put much stock in anonymous polls where players tattle on one another. Athletes are dumb and say dumb things, so their opinion on how many drug users exist in their game is useless to me.

Bonds did use, but I don't care. I wish every professional athlete was given a lifetime supply of PEDs at the start of their professional careers.

Mostly I think it's a numbers game. Yeah I bet a few guys are ahead of the testing, but not enough to add a 17% rise in homers in a year. 700 more homers, means a LOT of guys taking stuff and not getting caught. That's not very likely.

At this point.... More than anything else, we just need Detroit to leave town. They have locked down the ranger bats worse than anyone else I've seen this year over the last 2 games. We just can't get anything going.
