If that was 5 or 6 years at 30 mill a pop, I'd be more okay with it, but ten years is kind of crazy.

And yet again a 10 yr deal for a guy 30 or above. It may go good in the first 5-6 years but those last 4 to 5 years will be rough.

They will regret this deal by year 6 and if not then definitely in years 7,8,9, and 10.

So sad.

But I guess we shall see what he really is as a player without the protection of FIelder

This deal is stupid. Somewhere A-Rod and Pujols are lighting up cigars and saying "Hey Miggy! Welcome to the club!"

Also, Trout is gonna get over 400 mil. Book it

Yeah no doubt he's getting more than Miggy.....At least 350

These contracts are outrageous.

Hate the years. Four at 40 per would have been nice. Five at 35. Six at 30. This is insane. 2020 and beyond wont be pretty.

I'm thinking he will be alright. He averaged 36 homeruns, 115 rbis and a .332 average in the 3 years before Prince was on the Tigers. He also won a batting title, homerun title and rbi title without Prince's protection too in those years.

So, how are they going to pay Scherzer again?

Scherzer just turned down a 6 year 144 million dollar offer. I guess Mike Illitch is printing money in Detroit at one of his many businesses.

I think it is safe to say -- after the contract Cabrera just signed that Scherzer will no longer be a Tiger after this year. Unless Detroit is moving the team to NY.:laugh3:

That being said -- I'm with Broncosmitty. I hate the length of the contract. I love that he will be a tiger for life, but the last couple years of the deal are going to be rough.
