Also just a quick thought on those claiming that Sanchez could have put up similar stats. I'm not disagreeing that he could have put up similar stats. The issue for Sanchez though is he seems to throw his interceptions in the worst places possible at the worst possible moments of the game. Siemian when we needed him most to make some plays did just that in the 4th quarter. Yes I really want to see him clean up the mistakes and yes he is going to have to be more aggressive moving forward with attempting a throw further than 15 yards down the field but again remember this was his very first game. He did pretty decent for game 1. Plenty of room to grow and we need to see that from him as can't expect to throw 2 interceptions a game and expect to keep winning this way consistently but I definitely feel better about our QB position today than I did before yesterday.

carolina plays a cover 2, not an aggressive man to man defense. the underneath throws werent as much trevor playing conservative as they were kubiak scheming against Carolina and TS taking what the defense gave him.

Here is a picture of the hands to the face penalty. If you look you can see Benjamin with his hands in Harris' face. Call could have gone either way or could have easily been a no-call. Got a bit unlucky there but kind of balanced out with the missed kick.

All over sports media much is being made about the helmet to helmet hits on Newton. It's stuff like this that makes me shrug off non-calls that benefited the Broncos and not really care. The Panthers got away with some holds too, so it's not like the officiating was favoring one side over the other.

True I do agree with this. If there is one way to attack this defense through the air it is the short/quicker throws that they give you. At the same time go back and watch his final pass attempt where he gets sacked. I know late in the game don't want to chuck it up but Sanders had nobody within 15 yards of him deep down the sideline. They lost him somehow but Siemian just didn't pull the trigger. So there were a couple of opportunities to go deep. I don't blame him though game 1 for staying within the game plan that most likely highly suggested him keep things pretty short and take what the defense gave him. He did a great job of getting to his check down throw and letting our playmakers go make plays for this offense.

Wolfe after the game was urging NFL officials to look at what the Panthers were doing with their OL. Sounds like they were diving at the back of the legs of our players. He actually accused the Panthers of trying to injure him. I have never heard Wolfe talk in such a way so I tend to believe what he is saying. Honestly this was going to be a physical game between 2 of the most physical teams in the entire week. Big hits were going to happen and guys were going to get dinged up and some questionable hits would happen. I thought the officials for the most part kept the yellow flags in the pocket well. They at least stayed consistent on both sides.

Exactly. Fans complain when refs throw to many flags and whine they "won't let the teams play." Then when they let them play, they complain their team didn't get the calls. The bigger concern to me is not the calls or non-calls, it's the reality that some of those hits probably should have been penalized. In last night's game the refs let them play and plenty of non-calls benefitted the Panthers too so it is even in my estimation. But our guys can't keep that up. I don't want them to cease to be an edgy unit. But do so smartly. Some of those hits probably didn't need to happen. A couple were incidental.

Yeah need to play with an edge but understand some of those hits they can get hurt just as much as the hurt they are putting on others. I like our rookie safeties but still would rather not see them have to get a start because of our Safeties being hurt. I hate seeing them lower the head like they do. Just setting up for a spine injury if they are not careful.

Thankfully I don't think we play another team as physical as the Panthers the rest of the season. Cincinnati is maybe the only other one I can think of but they will be without Burfict for our game thankfully.

Not sure if this was mentioned, didn't feel like going back through all the comments. So some fools on social media went after the wrong Brandon Marshall for not standing for the National Anthem last night.

This is the kind of stuff I am talking about. In the same article in which the writer complains about rules not being enforced he also complains about rules being enforced! That taunting penalty on Turner didn't even have an impact as all it did was make for a longer PAT. I get that h-to-h hits are a league emphasis right now, but that doesn't make any of the other rules less important. For whatever reason, the refs didn't call holds on the Panthers (or any of the stuff to which Wolfe referred) and they didn't call the hits by the Broncos. And the 4th down hands to the face called on Harris should have been off setting as shown in that image. So once again: the refs let them play, and at the end even gave a call that really benefitted the Panthers. That would have been the ball game at that point otherwise.

Not the first time they got the wrong Brandon Marshall. He likes to have fun with them too.

Everytime a Defense is physical fans think they are "dirty", they don't know their football nor the rules of teh game if they think our Defense played dirty last night.

Darian Stewart had the blow to the head, which IMO big difference between dirty (doing something on purpose) and making a football error.

P.S0 Marshall is my boy so not gonna knock him, but I am to the point now where I think people/media just needs to quit giving players attention who don't stand for the national anthem. It's their right, I don't agree with it but I don't agree with a lot of things people do and I still support them.

Agree with this. I hear so many fans complain about how this game is becoming flag football but then they see a team that actually goes out and has some old school physicality about it and just rip them apart as dirty. To me I saw players trying to make football plays. And yes they hit Cam hard and a couple of times hit a little too high. At the same time teams know that the best way to get to Cam is to out physical him and the Panther's offense. Cam begins to see ghosts after a few hits. It is why the Broncos have had so much success at stopping him when other teams couldn't.

Also people need to remember that some of those hits when the players was 2 steps away launched at an angle that would have hit Cam in the chest. Cam seeing the hit coming shrugged down to protect his body. That happens all the time in this league.

Considering one POTUS candidate is making his platform about how much this country sucks, how many people are taking a leak during the national anthem, or just standing in line to pay $10 for a beer, it all seems way blown out of proportion. Never saw the big deal with it and if the media did not make it a big deal I doubt most people would have even noticed.

I didn't read the thread, but figure you guys are ecstatic about Siemian. Great pocket presence, cool under pressure, good decision making. Still has some to learn, but fantastic debut against a tough defense.

Give him a little more time. I think Roby needs a little more seasoning.
First game of Season. Roby made huge plays all over place last season. That's a tough team on both sides of ball. Love ya Roby !
