Here is a picture of the hands to the face penalty. If you look you can see Benjamin with his hands in Harris' face. Call could have gone either way or could have easily been a no-call. Got a bit unlucky there but kind of balanced out with the missed kick.
carolina plays a cover 2, not an aggressive man to man defense. the underneath throws werent as much trevor playing conservative as they were kubiak scheming against Carolina and TS taking what the defense gave him.
All over sports media much is being made about the helmet to helmet hits on Newton. It's stuff like this that makes me shrug off non-calls that benefited the Broncos and not really care. The Panthers got away with some holds too, so it's not like the officiating was favoring one side over the other.
Wolfe after the game was urging NFL officials to look at what the Panthers were doing with their OL. Sounds like they were diving at the back of the legs of our players. He actually accused the Panthers of trying to injure him. I have never heard Wolfe talk in such a way so I tend to believe what he is saying. Honestly this was going to be a physical game between 2 of the most physical teams in the entire week. Big hits were going to happen and guys were going to get dinged up and some questionable hits would happen. I thought the officials for the most part kept the yellow flags in the pocket well. They at least stayed consistent on both sides.
Exactly. Fans complain when refs throw to many flags and whine they "won't let the teams play." Then when they let them play, they complain their team didn't get the calls. The bigger concern to me is not the calls or non-calls, it's the reality that some of those hits probably should have been penalized. In last night's game the refs let them play and plenty of non-calls benefitted the Panthers too so it is even in my estimation. But our guys can't keep that up. I don't want them to cease to be an edgy unit. But do so smartly. Some of those hits probably didn't need to happen. A couple were incidental.
Not sure if this was mentioned, didn't feel like going back through all the comments. So some fools on social media went after the wrong Brandon Marshall for not standing for the National Anthem last night.
Everytime a Defense is physical fans think they are "dirty", they don't know their football nor the rules of teh game if they think our Defense played dirty last night.
Darian Stewart had the blow to the head, which IMO big difference between dirty (doing something on purpose) and making a football error.
P.S0 Marshall is my boy so not gonna knock him, but I am to the point now where I think people/media just needs to quit giving players attention who don't stand for the national anthem. It's their right, I don't agree with it but I don't agree with a lot of things people do and I still support them.
First game of Season. Roby made huge plays all over place last season. That's a tough team on both sides of ball. Love ya Roby !Give him a little more time. I think Roby needs a little more seasoning.
