And Harbaugh will be a normal sensible human being during that time. See how far fetched this all sounds?
As long as Harbaugh is the coach, I'm good with him.

But is that what it takes to have a fighting chance, a controversy involving the head coach that causes distractions to the game?
Sounds like desperation.
There’s no need to protect Zach Smith if he was never convicted of anything
Then it comes down to should he have morally made the decision to fire a guy with bad accusations against him
Hopefully more is known after the two week deadline set by the OSU investigation
It was Urban's job to make his boss aware. It was his boss's job to find out what happened. If Gene came back and said, "There is nothing there", why would Urban fire him?

I disagreeDoen't really matter that Zack Smith wasn't convicted of anything by law enforcement.
Domestic Violence is a police matter. If Suburban Meyer did anything to dissuade anyone from pressing charges or interfering with prosecution, he needs to be fired. If that didn't happen, apologize and reinstate him.
Gene Smith is above Urban. Not firing a guy isn't grounds to be fired yourself, especially when there are no formal charges and plenty of people have said she was batshit crazy herself.Urbs could have fired Zack Smith too though.
Why assign culpability to Gene Smith alone?
Urbs had more reason to retain Zack Smith than Gene Smith did.

.
I disagree
Then why the investigating committee?
We already know Zack Smith wasn't convicted of anything in 2015.
Isn't that the primary excuse by Ohio St fans as to why Zack Smith kept his job?

Seems to only be common sense to youCommon sense says if you dismiss Gene Smith you must also dismiss Urbs.
I think Meyer would have been fired or "resigned" already if that was going to be the outcome.
I could be wrong but i'm guessing they have already came to the conclusion that Meyer technically didnt do anything wrong (You can debate wether keeping Smith on staff as long as he was, was right/wrong or whatever) They're probably coming out with a way to present that, if they came out right away and said "hes staying" the public outrage mob's heads would explode. Not that they arent going to anyway but I understand the "taking their time" to announce thing.
It's also covered under university policy.
If it were all about the popo and the courts, there would be no investigating committee formed by the trustees.
I agree. They want the coals to cool.
I do believe the committee is doing a thorough investigation though, and could take a couple weeks.

Ohio State athletics department saying "well he really didnt do anything wrong" is going to get a "of course they would say that"
The committee is basically for "damage control" I guess you'd call it.
If Meyer did indeed follow proper protocol as claimed, there is literally no grounds for firing. No matter how much people want to argue the "morals" of keeping Smith on staff as long as he was.
Easy
They HAVE to make sure there are no more skellys in the closet. If something else bad came out on top of this little shit show, then things get really bad for the university. They're doing a deep dive to make sure no Brett McMurphy-type story blindsides them again.
