Even if scUM can luck into a win this year its shown that any win by scUM over tOSU is just an anomaly to be correct the next year.

I agree, it has to be at least a five year beating!!!!
And Harbaugh will be a normal sensible human being during that time. See how far fetched this all sounds?

It isn't going to take two weeks to prove Meyer reported the incident. They're working on ironing out the details on his suspension (2-4 games, likely for appearances sake) and how to force Gene Smith into retirement.

Why would Gene Smith be forced into retirement?

Ok....so I just went see Meyer’s latest contract through 2020.

4mil/year + 2.4mil in retention payments.

Um....correction...

I’d be looking to kill that bitch!

He got an extension in April thru 2022.

But is that what it takes to have a fighting chance, a controversy involving the head coach that causes distractions to the game?

Sounds like desperation.

Well then that calls for a little torture before finally killing her.

I mean we are talking a lot of money here....

Yeah. 5 years. So near $40 million.

We are used to this from our little brother up north.

I gave DJ a "like" for his post and decided to comment/quote here.

I doubt Patterson would be interested in OSU. Well, he might
be interested but he may have a greater need for a long-term
ideal situation for him. At OSU only teams that contend for a
NC are considered "good." Those expectations don't include
10-win seasons. At the minimum you better be getting 11
on average. A bad year, here or there, will have them moaning
a bit. You won't be allowed two years. 8-win seasons will not
cut it.

We know Patterson gets as much out of his players as anybody in the country. But he doesn't have top recruiting classes.

Dealing with 4-5 star players and dealing with 3 or below is different in the approach and the coaching style. TCU plsyers
will run thru a wall for TCU. That's a different breed than OSU
players that will run thru a wall to impress a pro scout/team.

He may not have the confidence in himself to deal with that type
of player. Especially if they are all 4 and 5 star athletes.
He may like the idea of being a "legend" at TCU over being
unemployed after 3 years at OSU.

Look at the Boise State coaches. They were all successful at Boise
and all of them flops everywhere they went, with the exception of
Peterson. They got a certain type of athlete at Boise and were able
to milk every ounce of energy out of them. They couldn't do that
when they moved up in class.

Koetter is coaching with the Bucs but he only got that job when they fired Lovie because I was out back mowing the yard when they called me.

If a situation doesn't feel right or if you are content with what
you have going for you at the present...stick with it
This assumes Gary Patterson is a balless bitch who doesn’t have confidence in himself. I think you make some good points, but there are plenty of Ohio kids who grow up dreaming of running through a wall for tOSU

If he is fired, it won't be for cause. Ohio State has the worst lawyers anywhere. They lost in court to the basketball coach. He was fired because he gave a recruit an envelope full of cash. How bad do you have to be as a lawyer to lose that case?

I don't think that means the Ohio State Buckeyes. I think it means the Ohio U. Bobcats. (aka the Fighting Frankies)

The Bobcats would whoop them too just like Toledo did.

Chain of command

If someone has to be scarificed, maybe Gene gets the boot

Urbs would have had just as much power to fire Zack Smith as Gene Smith did.
If anything Urbs saved Zack Smith for personal family friend reasons.
Gene Smith would have no reason to protect Zack Smith that I'm aware of.

It Gene Smith goes, so too will go Urbs. IMO.

The overwhelming amount of people around the university believe he was notified of it by Meyer. He's an absolutely horrible AD.

Urbs could have fired Zack Smith too though.
Why assign culpability to Gene Smith alone?

Urbs had more reason to retain Zack Smith than Gene Smith did.

There’s no need to protect Zach Smith if he was never convicted of anything

Then it comes down to should he have morally made the decision to fire a guy with bad accusations against him

Hopefully more is known after the two week deadline set by the OSU investigation

It was Urban's job to make his boss aware. It was his boss's job to find out what happened. If Gene came back and said, "There is nothing there", why would Urban fire him?
