Ohio State to experiment with beer and wine sales in Ohio Stadium | CollegeFootballTalk
It’s not as though Ohio State is hurting for cash these days, but a little extra is always nice. This fall Ohio State will begin a trial run of beer and wine sales inside Ohio Stadium.

On Friday the university announced a pilot program that will provide beer and wine to fans with access to the stadium’s suites and club seats. A total of 4,370 seats are found within these areas, so this is just a small step toward potential full-stadium alcohol sales to the 100,000 fans that can pack Ohio Stadium on any Saturday in the fall.

This will not be the first time beer and wine have been sold inside Ohio Stadium though. The university tested sales this summer during various concerts and the recent Cleveland Browns training camp event in Columbus. Ohio State would not even be the first school within the state’s borders to offer beer for sale at football games. Akron, Bowling Green, Kent State and Toledo of the MAC all offer alcohol sales to fans. Cincinnati of the American Athletic Conference does as well.

Minnesota is the only other Big Ten school to currently offer alcohol sales to fans on game days, but it continues to be an area monitored and reviewed by many across the conference and nation. Minnesota, along with West Virginia, have been some of the early adopters and have shown good results so far.

Louisville & Indiana announce future football games, including one in Indy (and basketball too) | CollegeFootballTalk
Two traditional basketball powers have scheduled a three-game series that includes a neutral site game and a home-and-home series starting in 2016. Why is this appearing on a college football site? Because the basketball scheduling announcement came packaged with a similar football deal too, but that part may not be as entertaining.

Louisville and Indiana have announced a scheduling agreement for football and men’s basketball. The football part of the announcement also comes with a neutral site game in the mix. The Hoosiers and Cardinals will face off in Indianapolis in Lucas Oil Stadium on September 16, 2023. The teams will split the stadium equally. The following season will see Louisville host Indiana on September 7, 2024. The Hoosiers play host to the Cardinals on September 6, 2025 to complete the three-year scheduling agreement on the football field. The basketball series will tip off next year in Bankers Life Arena in Indianapolis on New Years Eve (which apparently is no big deal like it is for the College Football Playoff semifinals this season, but I digress). Louisville’s basketball team will host the Hoosier hoopsters on December 9, 2017 and Indiana will host Louisville the next season on December 8, 2018.

As for football, the three-game series will mark the first time the two schools, separated by roughly 100 miles, have faced each other on the football field since the mid-1980s. Indiana won the first meeting between the schools in 1985 and once more in 1986. The series, albeit a brief one, has not been revived since.

Popped for coke, Clemson kicker suspended at least three games | CollegeFootballTalk
Thursday, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney confirmed that Ammon Lakipwill be suspended for at least the first three games of the 2015 season. Upon his return, there’s no guarantee that Lakip will resume his role as the Tigers’ main kicker, which has since gone to redshirt freshman Greg Huegel.

Lakip, suspended indefinitely since an arrest two months ago, has returned to school and, while he has rejoined the team, has yet to participate in practice. In late June, reports surfaced that Lakip had been charged withpossession of cocaine and driving under the influence following an incident earlier that month. A short time later, Swinney revealed the kicker will “miss some time.”

Florida suspends three Gators for season opener | CollegeFootballTalk
When the Jim McElwain era in Gainesville gets underway in just over two weeks, it will do so with a few players serving a suspension. On Friday Florida announced three players will be suspended for the 2015 season opener; defensive end Alex McCalister, safety Marcus Maye and wide receiver Latroy Pittman.

The reason, or reasons, for the suspensions is not known beyond the typical and rather routine “violation of team rules.” All three players will be a dent in the depth at their respective positions, but Florida should be able to manage through one game without much problem. Florida’s season opener is at home against New Mexico State, and they are no Georgia Southern.

This is not the first time Pittman has been suspended at Florida either. This will be the second straight season opener Pitman will miss due to suspension after being one of a number of Gators suspended before the start of last season under former head coach Will Muschamp.

UCLA suspends OL coach Adrian Klemm (again) | CollegeFootballTalk
Back in mid-March UCLA suspended Klemm with pay after it was brought to the attention of the university he had been connected to various NCAA violations. UCLA was proactive in reporyting the findings to the Pac-12 and the NCAA, and Klemm was reinstated by the program in June. At the time of his reinstatement, UCLA confirmed it was working with the NCAA to complete a review of the matters tied to Klemm’s suspension. The NCAA is still conducting a review of the situation, but apparently had enough to justify a two-game suspension and recruiting restrictions.

UCLA will give up two official visits in the next year, which was tacked on to the Bruins already committing to reduce recruiting days by 10 percent this year. Considering it appears UCLA is cooperating and being pro-active with this response to these unknown violations, it should not be expected the NCAA drops any additional hammers unless something substantial that has not already been reported is discovered. There is no timeline for the conclusion of the NCAA’s investigation, and predicting when that may wrap up is difficult to do as there is no real consistency when it comes to this process.

Either way, UCLA will be without an offensive line coach (and run game coordinator) for the first two games of the season. UCLA opens the season at home against Virginia of the ACC and on the road at UNLV. Klemm is scheduled to return in time for UCLA’s home game in Week 3 against BYU.

Oregon schedules future football game against defending national champs | CollegeFootballTalk
Not those defending national champions, although Ohio State comes to Eugene the following week.

Just weeks after adding Montana to the schedule in 2019, Oregon has now added four-time defending FCS national champion North Dakota State for 2020. Oregon will welcome the Bison to Autzen Stadium on September 5, 2020. As it turns out, Oregon hosts Ohio State the following week in the first half of a home-and-home between the two programs that just squared off in the College Football Playoff national championship game. Oregon’s non-conference schedule wraps up with a home game against Hawaii the following week before jumping into the Pac-12’s nine-game conference schedule.

Iowa RB C.J. Hilliard transferring to be closer to Cincinnati home
Iowa announced via a press release late this last week that C.J. Hilliard has decided to take his leave of Kirk Ferentz’s football program and transfer to an undetermined location. The release stated that the running back’s decision to transfer was triggered by his desire to move closer to his hometown of Cincinnati.

“C.J. Hilliard has elected to transfer to another institution closer to home to continue his academic and football pursuits,” said Ferentz in a statement. “C.J. had a tremendous attitude in our program and we wish him the best.”

A three-star member of the Hawkeyes’ 2014 recruiting class, Hilliard was rated as the No. 55 player at any position in the state of Ohio. He took a redshirt as a true freshman last season.

While Hilliard didn’t carry an offer from Cincinnati coming out of high school, he did from the likes of Akron, Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio), Ohio and Toledo.

Ex-Gamecock CB Wesley Green transfers to Hoosiers
Indiana announced in a press release Monday afternoon that Green has transferred into the university and is now a member of the Hoosiers football program. It was announced earlier this month that it was “mutually decided” that Green and South Carolina had decided to part ways for unspecified reasons.

Green will be forced to sit out the 2015 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. Beginning in 2013, the defensive back will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Reports: Sun Devil RBs coach, son of Todd Graham, abruptly resigns
Pete Thamel of SI.com reported Monday afternoon that Bo Graham (pictured, left) has stepped down from his position as the running backs coach at Arizona State. Doug Haller of the Arizona Republicsubsequently confirmed the initial report, adding that the decision to step down less than two weeks before the start of a new season was triggered by personal reasons.

Graham is the son of Sun Devils head coach Todd Graham. As for any speculation on the reasoning behind the abrupt resignation…
