Just for the record, saying that teachers are important isnt looking down our nose at anyone.

Although I may or may not be a teacher, I certainly am important to some people. Perhaps, give or take, 500 people.
Chill, I truly appreciate you man, but don't put a question on your role in the world. If you are a parent, grandparent, or any generational type family member (uncle, etc.), you too are a teacher!

Nobody knows anybody on here really, so it wouldnt matter if I cliamed I was a teacher or not. You all have no way of knowing.

If I was a fabulous teacher, with a 20 year record of excellence, I would have had an unmeasurable impact on society.

If I was a dabulous teacher with a 20 year record of excellent, working with the 1% population, whose families are titans of their industries, I might have an even greater impact on society.

Even if I said that the above is true, you wouldnt have any reason to either believe or not believe me.

If anyone here has had an impact on young kids in your life span through teaching, mentoring, coaching, parenting etc then I salute everyone who has. My guess is that would be most of us.

Ahh yes…. The ol’ “I went to school so I know what it means to be a teacher,” mentality.

Beer league coaching is not the same as day in, day out multitasking, multi-level individualized planning, execution, and reflection.

But yes, kudos to all the weekend warrior coaches, absentee “it’s the schools fault” parenting, superawesome parents, dedicated and not dedicated mentors, and counselors.

Participation trophies for all.

You seem jaded or likely misunderstood in order to keep driving your point home. I understand where you stand and thats awesome you feel so passionate about dedicated teachers. Most feel the same however, there are many dedicated people who help toddlers, young children, teens and young adults all over the world who understand and dedicate themselves to this act of service that requires a certain amount of time, planning and wherewithal to accomplish simply because they want to, not because they have to in order to get paid.

So yes you are right, let's crown every teacher with a "you are superior because you get paid to teach" star and as for the rest of you, here is your sticker as well. Point is one isn't any more deserving or accomplished than the other.

I already said this I am for anyone who does there job well and works hard.

I am Scots-Irish and was taught as long as I can remember to not let my ass think it is more important that it really is but to respect others. Sometimes I am good at both and sometimes I am bad at both.

You used the term jaded incorrectly.

Other than that, I agree that we should definitely crown every teacher with more fucking money, because they get paid to teach.

Solid point there too.

As for your last point, sadly no: teachers are indeed more important than coaches. To think otherwise is kooky talk.

Anyway, I’ve made myself abundantly clear, and as long as gkeoka doesnt spout off about teaching or teachers with something as fantastically stupid as “those who can’t, teach” then I’m done here.

Have you never heard of that saying?

And there is a big part of truth in it.

If teachers keep to instruction and not molding…we are fine.

Teachers do not deserve more money just because they have a degree. They are government employees and almost all government employees are overpaid. Teachers deserve the amount of money the taxpayers are willing to pay.

Since you continued, so will I:

Teachers are not robots. They are human. They have thoughts, concerns, feelings, ideas, opinions, etc.

Nobody goes into teaching to be a trained monkey who regurgitates bullshit spouted from fucking morons who make policies that don't reflect reality.

Simply put, it's awfully hard to inspire passion without being passionate about something. If you think that just because some mid-management fuckwad thinks Johnny will be inspired by material created as far removed from the classroom setting as possible, you've got another thing coming to you.

Professions that rely on human connectivity are bound to be influenced by the foibles of the humans in charge. That's called "human nature."

And frankly, who the fuck do you think you are to be telling any teacher that what they're doing is "molding" anything? Your precious little angel can't handle an LGBT book because it'll turn him gay, but gay kids aren't turned straight by the near constant barrage of straight characters they experience in the books they read, the music they listen to, the moves and tv shows they watch? GTFO of here with that bullshit.

Long live the teachers who mold kids to be better versions of themselves than their parents ever could get them to be.

Hope i don't step on a landmine, but working at a private school....there are parts of what Chillerdab said that resonates with me.
I walk in some classrooms, and the teacher looks distraught, burned out and I can't tell who's in control of the room.
Then I go across the hall, and there's a room full of well behaved students participating, asking questions and appear interested in what the teacher is teaching.
There is clearly and art that not all teachers possess, and parent never want to hear their kids are the problem, if they're paying tuition.

I'm outta hear before I get shot up

I just have one question. Do they teach the kids how to defend against the CHINA virus?

I agree. They are not robots. They are not paid to share their thoughts and concerns. They are paid to instruct the children of other parents to teach specific subjects.

It is not the responsibility of a teacher to teach children about sexuality, especially not young children. And yes, there are teachers trying to mold children into the LGBT community.

Lastly, it is not a teachers job to mold children.
