See I think that black athletes play the sport longer than whites and thus whites are getting trained sooner .

It very well could be.

Also, playing a sport does not make you a good teacher of the techniques. Playing the sport does not make you a strategist. Playing the sport does not make you a communicator.

Those who can…do.
Those who cannot…teach.

Here lies the problem in your thought process. You openly admit a minority member may be less qualified for a certain job at a certain time. Well, if the minority is less qualified for the job that leads to the HC job, then should he be given the job he is less qualified for?

You then ask how he is to become a HC. I would say he same way a white person does.

So the organization is responsible for training minority candidates to get a specific job? Is the organization also responsible for training the white candidate? Or do you believe white candidates are miraculously trained or their abilities are innate?

I agree with Skinsdad, that to say the hiring process is 100 percent racist, is wrong.
I believe most owners find the thought of a minority calling the shots -- a head coach --uncomfortable, hence there are only a handful even to this day.
I believe the league, and owners acknowledge , they must do something to give minorities more head coaching jobs, I believe the rooney rule was put in place
to address this issue, but the fact that more attempts are being made(poor ones at that) to hire more head coaches of color or sex , is admission that the owners didn't
take it seriously.

I believe as far as head coaching goes in the NFL -- a white coach will get a job before a more qualified black one. again look at the league.
I also believe that there are cases where - you line up a white coach and a minority, and they both qualify -- but the white coach was a better fit and perhaps even more intelligent.
As far as training goes -- if I'm a racist black man -- and my forefathers were racist -- and speak poorly of whites, call them unable to learn, and teach
a part of me, whether i want to admit it or not -- is going to favor my own race every time. It will be difficult for me to trust someone, i've been taught to expect to
fail in a position of leadership. It's really not that hard to grasp or agree with.

the history of the league i get , but in todays world there is a reason why you dont see minorities in head coaching positions or at least possibly a reason instead of defaulting to racism

I agree -- For instance -- Eric B in KC -- IMO seems like a jerk.
Probably would do well on the field, but not sure he'd be able to get a locker room behind him when things got rough.
Some claim racism on this one, i don't believe it in his case. However, more so than not ---i believe racism is still at the root of the hiring process.
I respect you for letting me speak my opinion on your thoughts, and realizing i'm not attacking you.

Why? Do you really think the owners care who makes them money?

No. The reason they are doing this is to save face in the eyes of the media.
I believe as far as head coaching goes in the NFL -- a white coach will get a job before a more qualified black one. again look at the league.
Let’s look at the league. What makes a coach more qualified? Do you actually look at the interview or do you simply say this guy was a good player so he must be a good coach? Look at Mike Tomlin. He is a damn good coach but if you look at his work before becoming the head coach in Pittsburgh, he never would have got the job.
I also believe that there are cases where - you line up a white coach and a minority, and they both qualify -- but the white coach was a better fit and perhaps even more intelligent.

I understand this position; however, like I said earlier, the only color that matters to owners is green.

They don't, but they do care about who coaches the team. That's why there's only 1 black head coach.
How comfortable would you be with a female WR, even if she could ball out? or what about a female head coach from South America
Wouldn't you prefer a man? Why?

Ok, perhaps I should've just said that -- I agree with you, they need to save face.

Again, I agree with you, except on coaching -- I still feel a minority is the last thing an owner wants
and again -- racism and preferences can be different things

Teams make money by winning. Coaches are one of the best ways to win because they do not count against the cap.

I would be very comfortable with a female WR…which is actually impossible.

A female head coach is a horrible idea, regardless of where she is from. She would be leading a group of alpha men, and those men would likely not want to follow her. I would prefer a man as a head coach because the man would be the better candidate because the coach leads men.

see, you didn't hesitate to say even the "idea" of a female coach is a horrible idea.
what makes you think an older billionaire wouldn't react the same to a minority head coach -- its at least open for discussion just based on who are head coaches league wide.
If i'm keeping real though -- it would be different, even strange to see a female head coach -- in the NFL.
its like nothing we know

Well how many blacks play in the NFL ? 70% or so ? They are able to persue their NFL dreams longer . Hence they get a later start in coaching then their white counterparts.

I have no doubts the black men and /or anyone else can be great coaches if they have the ingredients of being a good coach .

An owner should have the right to hire whom he thinks fits his philosophy.

If the new Rooney rule helps out with minorities getting better and earlier training opportunities I am not against that theory

Of course I didn’t because it is. I gave the reason why it is a bad idea.

The billionaire understands that 80% of his players are minorities, so the idea that they may respond better to a minority leader would not be a surprise.

When it comes to coaching men’s sports, you can’t compare sex and race. They are vastly different things.

Bienemy's issue is himself. Not his race. Hell, Ryan Poles is black and he was in the KC FO, so he's got experience with Bienemy, but when he became the Bears GM, even he didn't hire him.

I agree. This is an overreaction to the negative media attention and the Flores lawsuit.

Dumbest fucking comment on the board.

Teaching well is among the hardest fucking skills on the planet.

Dont believe me? You try wrangling 25 six year olds to do anything, ever, all while dealing with asshole parents, covid lunacy, unfunded mandates, shifting responsibilities, and limited pay.

Teachers are heroes and only fucking idiots perpetuate that stupidity.

Whatever.

Too many teachers in my family to hear that fucking bullshit.

Teachers are criminally underpaid. They have advanced degrees, have to constantly improve their practice, and are perpetually disrespected.

All you have to do is look around the country at the sheer lunacy of the bills being passed by state senates by idiots who dont know a fucking thing about classrooms to see the kind of shit these heroes have to deal with every day.

Teachers aren’t an issue , administrators are the huge issue where common sense is thrown out the window

Did I hurt your twat?

Teaching is a hard skill…maybe that is why our schools struggle. Maybe we don’t have enough good teachers…or maybe our students simply suck…maybe the parents suck.

It is quite difficult to wrangle children when you cannot hold them responsible for their actions and have to teach to the lowest common denominator. It is OK though because private schools are still doing quite well.

Some teachers are good teachers. Many suck.

Why do they have advanced degrees? Maybe they should have thought twice about their profession.

Get rid of the teacher’s unions…parents are responsible for their children…not the teachers. Get rid of the activists and maybe I will respect the teachers again.
