OK maybe I should have been more clear. I would never bench Ameer but what I am saying is that giving Ameer 30 carries against this D is going to take a toll on any back. So I would use Cross more on 1st and 2nd. To give Ameer a break and to wear the defense down

when that dude asked about notre dame

And Notre dame is not a mid-major. My point is Nebraska's "played like" a top tier mid-major since Pelini's been here. They have a great record against middle of the road or crappy mid-majors, a decent record against P-5 eams with 8 or less wins, but once they run into a 9 win P-5 team or better that record goes to shit.

RA you're one of those guys where it seems like you're happier when we lose because it proves all of your negative views right.

Nope.

I'm pissed that this staff has under-performed by Nebraska standards. I quit drinking the Kool-Aid in January 2012. That was 5 years. 2013 only supported what I already knew. There's nothing more than I'd like to see Nebraska win a conference title. That doesn't mean I need to lie to myself and others. I can't defend the results on the field.

However, I'm a college football fan even when Nebraska's not there.

Fuck Sparty. Nebraska is and always will be superior. At least until it's necessary for JJM or Brasky to start *that* thread.

From a Michigan paper:

Corn in their side

Michigan State has been among the nation's leaders in the major defensive categories the past three seasons, with three of the best defenses the school has fielded. Of the eight programs that have played MSU all three seasons, Nebraska has had the most offensive success.

Nebraska: 26.7 points per game, 378.3 yards per game, 228.3 rush yards per game, 2-1 record vs. MSU

Notre Dame: 22.7 points, 266.3 total yards, 106.0 rush yards, 3-0

Indiana: 19.3, 301.3, 73.7, 0-3

Iowa: 18.0, 290.0, 77.7, 1-2

Ohio State: 16.0, 311.7, 170.7, 1-2

Northwestern: 15.3, 330.7, 84.7, 1-2

Minnesota: 12.3, 253.3, 82.7, 0-3

Michigan: 10.7, 248.0, 65.7, 1-2

Nebraska aware of its success vs. MSU; is more coming?

Everyone is talking about the matchup between the Husker offense vs. the Spartan defense and overlooking how the Husker Defense has performed against the MSU Offense in the past. Did you know that the Huskers have outgained MSU the past 3 years and the last time Nebraska went to East Lansing, Nebraska had a total of 473 yards to 361 for Michigan State? Even Last season Nebraska had a bigger offensive day than MSU. If not for the TO's inside Nebraska's 20 yard line and could have hung on to the ball, they most likely could have closed in on an additional hundred yards or so. The score would have been totally different also.

I think the Nebraska defense is going to step up huge again this Saturday and do what they have done in the past and shut down the MSU offense. As long as they limit the turnovers, the Nebraska offense is going to get their yards and points. Yea, Michigan State is better offensively this season and about the same on defense (compared to the last couple seasons) but, I think the Huskers are far better on both sides of the ball than they were last year.

2011 at Lincoln (Neb 24 - MSU 3)
NEB - 270 total yards, 190 rushing, 80 passing, TO's 1
MSU - 187 total yards, 101 rushing, 86 passing, TO's 1

2012 at East Lansing (Neb 28 - MSU 24)
NEB - 473 total yards, 313 rushing, 160 passing, TO's 3
MSU - 361 total yards, 238 rushing, 123 passing, TO's 2

2013 at Lincoln (MSU 41 - Neb 28)
NEB - 392 total yards, 182 rushing, 210 passing, TO's 5
MSU - 361 total yards, 168 rushing, 193 passing, TO's 0

I'd like to think that even if I lived in a state or city that didn't have a CFB team I'd still be a huge fan of the sport in general.

I think '07 confirmed that for me. Still watched games every Saturday despite the misery and negativity.

but i think as everyone all over the web has pointed out, MSU's O is the best it's basically ever been. if you look at their average O in B1G play last year, those numbers probably aren't that far off.

MSU's offense is 'considerably' better than it's been the past few years.

They got a new OC to start last season, so they really didn't get going until later in the year.

Gregory may be the most important player in this game for Nebraska. He really needs to disrupt things and keep Cook from having all day.
