Agreed, I've been following his path since last season when at the time he leapfrogged 20 spots to #7 in the team's top 30 prospect list. I believe going into this season he has been listed at #5. Any name to follow is Matt Thompson, 19 yr old flamer, who was taken in the 2nd round of last year's draft, and is currently their 7th rank prospect. His FB is already hitting 96 even tho he's still filling out his frame. Now throw in this year's picks of Crochet and Kelley, and it's easy to get excited over the young arms we have coming down the pipeline.Jonathan Stievers had a dominating year last year in minors as a starter.
That was the biggest reason I was focusing on L/H pitchers prior to the draft. We're rather unbalanced with our pitching rosters, both at the major and minor league levels. If Rodon is truly back to his pre-injured self, that would be a huge boost, because we could then shift Gio to the pen as a long reliever/spot starter. And yes, Frye needs to be more consistent. He's got some serious game, but there's too much up-n-down to it.The Sox need left handed reliever help. I think the Sox have their fingers crossed when they see Jace Frye -and see him as a weak link.
