Injuries have hit the Ravens extremely hard this offseason. These are the players they have lost for the 2017 season since June 1:

• Tavon Young, a starter last year and a promising nickelback, tore his ACL on June 1;
  
  
• Dennis Pitta, who led all NFL tight ends with 86 catches last season, suffered a likely career-ending hip injury on June 2;
  
  
• Darren Waller, a special-teams standout and a backup tight end, was suspended for the year on June 30 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy;
  
  
• Kenneth Dixon, the team's most elusive running back, underwent season-ending knee surgery on July 25;
  
  
• John Urschel, who was competing for the starting center job, retired before the first practice of training camp on July 27;
  
  
• Gillmore, who was battling for a starting tight end spot, sustained a season-ending knee injury on July 28;
  
  
• Siragusa tore his ACL, PCL and MCL on Tuesday.

Man, he scarred you really deep didn't he, it's like he owns your mind or something....
On the subject note though, I have blamed Harbs for the past 3 yrs for excessive injuries....Given that injuries happen every yr and more to some teams than others out of chance alone....But 3 yrs running, and it's become a sort of a pattern with his teams...His theory is keep a lot of depth at the major positions with the hopes that someone will step up.....I don't like it, he needs to handle star players and older vets with a smarter approach than his grind it out every practice and overloading them in the gym...He has changed strength coaches but he needs to do more to cut down on all these injuries....Right now, we're still good as long as Joe is under center in time to sharpen up with his new weapons before the season starts....

Williams and Watson will have to step up this year at TE (if they even fully recover from their own injuries).

At least the Def is relatively healthy so far. They should surprise some people this year.

I really liked Gilmore and Boyle, Maxx seems to be injury prone and Ben is old and brittle....Maybe between the 2 they can make 1 good one to back up Boyle....I think with Maclin and Woodhead in the picture, the TE position may not have to be relied on as much this yr....And that D should be a monster that'll give them a bunch of short fields to score anyway....All the picks so far in TC, Mallett can't be that bad, he did beat Pittsburgh remember !!!

Yeah, I am really struggling to see the AFC is bad narrative. Seems to have a sour reputation with Peyton Manning, Big Ben, and Brady near exclusively making the SB in that time, but it has had more depth than people think most years. Those teams just haven't sustained progress- usually because of the QB.

Overall in the last 8 years (so every team playing each other home and away), the NFC does lead 258-252-2 in the standings. Not that big a difference though and the AFC had a winning record last year.
