I keep seeing so many people knock Smith for not having power. I don't want or need him to have power. Be a slap hitter who can get on base.

To me I definitely want a lead off contact first hitter without strikeouts but to me he looks to be swinging for the fences at times

This year and next should be all about getting these young guys acclimated. At least as many as you can, anyway. Hopefully we can get the process started next year with guys like Foscue, Harris, Crim, Duran and maybe even Zavala and Carter. Some of those probably extend the process into 2024.

Some of them are going to hit poorly for an extended period, but we are going to have to grin and bear it.

Of course, the lack of room for everyone will force some judgments to be made early.

I believe we will need more production from the OF in 2023/2024 other than Garcia. We have time to figure some of it out.
